Disinfo: Polish Institute of National Remembrance devalued word 'Fascism'

Summary

There are many people who describe themselves as anti-Fascists. Today, however, this concept has devalued, and the word Fascism itself is losing its meaning in Poland. Indirectly, it is a result of the actions of the Institute of National Remembrance, which is fighting with history.

Disproof

This message is part of the Kremlin’s policy of historical revisionism. It accuses Poland of the “falsification and rewriting” of its history and, sometimes, Poland is presented as a supporter of Nazi ideology.

The claim that the alleged “fight” of the Polish Institute of National Remembrance with history somehow devalues the meaning of Fascism in Poland is a clear manipulation. The Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) is a Polish government institution in charge of the prosecution, archives, education and lustration, in relation to crimes against the Polish nation. The IPN investigates Nazi and Communist crimes committed between 1917 and 1990, documents its findings and disseminates them to the public. The Russian authorities often accuse the Polish and Ukrainian Institutes of National Remembrance of historical falsifications and anti-Russian activities.
