DISINFO: A new law will ban the use of the Russian language in Ukraine

SUMMARY

A new law will ban the use of Russian and limit the use of national minorities’ regional languages in western Ukraine which will lead to conflicts and protests.

RESPONSE

One of the authors of the draft law, Mykola Knyazhytsky says the legislation is not designed to curtail any minority language in Ukraine, but rather to support Ukrainian through proposing to increase Ukrainian language content on national television to 75%.The proposed law is discussed in committee.
