Disinfo: A powerful group of American elites wants indirect war with Russia

Summary

The United States is the main beneficiary of the Ukrainian crisis because the American ruling class is terrified of the possibility of Moscow strengthening its global role. A powerful faction in Washington, having supporters in the White House, the Pentagon, the State Department and the CIA, has long wanted an indirect war with Russia. These people firmly believe that Russia must not be allowed to rise again.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative claiming that the United States (as well as Western countries in general) are fighting a proxy war against Russia in Ukraine, and that Ukraine is just a pawn in this war.

This narrative aims to frame Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine as a confrontation with a Russophobic and belligerent West. The aim is to deflect and dilute Russia's responsibility for the war.

Contrary to what this disinformation story claims, the West supports Ukraine with military and financial aid for the country’s efficient self-defence, in accordance with the UN Charter Article 51, to stop Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.

See other examples of similar disinformation narratives in our database, such as claims that the West is lying when it claims that Russia “invaded” and “attacked” Ukraine, that Russia’s special operation prevented Ukraine’s attack, that Russia’s special operation in Ukraine is due to NATO’s persistent expansion, or that the US and the West are fighting a hybrid war against Russia in Ukraine.

Disinfo: Nuclear weapons are Belarus's security against aggressive neighbours

If the West continues its aggressive rhetoric, Belarus will deploy not only tactical but also strategic nuclear weapons. Once the West violates any agreements and threatens Belarus by bringing more military forces to its borders and expanding NATO, Belarus should keep the powder dry. The Polish authorities are not hiding their aggressive intentions. Poland is preparing to build a new Europe where Belarus has no place. Poland is increasing its army to 300,000 people and brings more soldiers and military equipment to Belarusian borders. In addition to threats from the West, Ukraine is also threatening Belarus.

Disproof

The article gives a false pretext for stationing Russian nuclear weapons in Belarus in the context of nuclear fearmongering. The ‘aggressive West’ disinformation claim is frequently promoted in pro-Kremlin media – it is part of the recurring disinformation narrative accusing the West of anti-Russian and anti-Belarusian policies, aggressive Russophobia and allegedly belligerent and hostile agenda to destroy, ruin Russia, aiming to portray Russia as a victim and deflect any responsibility for Moscow’s illicit actions.

It contains the “aggressive Poland” and, more broadly, the “anti-Russian West” disinformation narrative. Neither Poland nor other NATO countries nor Ukraine have aggressive plans towards Belarus. On the contrary, Ukraine is concerned with a possibility of broader aggressive military engagement of Belarus given that the Belarusian regime continues aiding the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Disinfo: Protests in Israel driven by the US for not supplying weapons to Ukraine

The latest protests in Israel do not seem natural. Any country which dares to disobey the White House, is suddenly stricken with protests. The Pentagon leaks, which speak about Israel’s alleged plans to supply weapons to Ukraine, do not seem coincidental either. Israelites are against this move. This is the reason for the continuation of protests. Israel's government is unlikely to support the Nazi ideas of the Kyiv Reich.

Disproof

This article promotes a recurring disinformation narrative about “Nazi Ukraine” and pushes a conspiracy concerning the mass protests in Israel which started at the end of March 2023. They are presented as instigated by the US as payback for Israel’s reluctance to provide arms assistance to Ukraine.

The pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Nazi/fascist Ukraine is one of Kremlin's favorite tropes to denigrate Ukraine. It has been the cornerstone of Russian disinformation about the country since the very beginning of the Euromaidan protests back in 2013 and 2014, when it was used to discredit the pro-European popular uprising in Kyiv and, subsequently, the broader pro-Western shift in Ukraine's foreign policy. Far-right groups enjoyed a very limited presence during the Euromaidan itself and had poor results in the 2019 election cycle, falling short of the 5% minimum guaranteeing entry into parliament. Disinfo: The idiotic Polish Prime Minister brings his country to nuclear destruction

Some idiot Mateusz Morawiecki [Polish Prime Minister] says that Ukraine has a right to strike at Russia, and he is not worried about a war between Russia and NATO because Moscow would quickly lose such a war. We do not know who will win or lose this war but taking into consideration Poland’s role as a NATO outpost in Europe, and this country will surely disappear along with its “underdeveloped” Prime Minister.

Disproof

This message presents direct Russian military and nuclear blackmail against NATO countries – the Russian authorities make evident nuclear threats against other countries.

Poland is repeatedly presented as an aggressive anti-Russian NATO “outpost”, which allegedly poses a security threat to Russia, in line with how pro-Kremlin outlets portray NATO and the collective West as aggressive towards Russia.
