DISINFO: American delegation in Crimea condemned the actions of NATO in the Black Sea

SUMMARY

The head of the American delegation to Crimea said that the expansion of NATO to the borders of Russia and the actions of the North Atlantic Alliance in the Black Sea are cause for concern. The delegation marched with the flag “No NATO” during the May Day parade in Simferopol as well.

RESPONSE

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative claiming that foreign delegations are recognising Crimea as part of Russia. Similar "delegations" have already visited occupied Crimea. The US embassy in Ukraine made a statement that “the delegation is in no way connected with the US government,” and the United States is “unswervingly on the side of Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression".
