Disinfo: Americans funded laboratory research in Wuhan and are guilty of coronavirus outbreak

Summary

It was said that someone got infected in Wuhan, the Americans blame China, demand compensation, and everybody sings from the same hymn sheet. What is Russia doing? It’s the only serious country that does not support these claims. The most interesting thing is that the Americans funded this research in Wuhan. For their money, everything was actually done. It was a joint programme.

Disproof

A recurring conspiracy theory that echoes pro-Kremlin disinformation about the artificial creation of COVID-19. There is no evidence that the coronavirus (COVID-19) was created in laboratories. COVID-19 comes from a family of viruses that include the common cold and viruses such as SARS and MERS. Coronaviruses are known to circulate in mammals and birds, and scientists have already suggested that COVID-19 originally came from bats. One of the previous coronaviruses that caused severe acute respiratory syndrome, or SARS, spread from bats to civet cats to humans. A group of 27 prominent public health scientists have condemned rumours and conspiracy theories about the origin of the coronavirus outbreak: "We stand together to strongly condemn conspiracy theories suggesting that COVID-19 does not have a natural origin." The authors of The Lancet statement note that scientists from several countries who have studied SARS-CoV-2, "overwhelmingly conclude that this coronavirus originated in wildlife," just like many other viruses that have recently emerged in humans. "Conspiracy theories do nothing but create fear, rumours and prejudices that jeopardise our global collaboration in the fight against this virus," the statement says.

There was no Soviet occupation in Europe

Europe is shouting that it was under the tyranny of the Soviet Union, that the Soviet Union ruled there. But Europe had its own local governments, local intelligence, even its army. It’s Americans who still rule in Europe, and have their bases all around.

Disproof

This message is part of the Kremlin’s policy of historical revisionism. Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative on WWII and the West. It's also a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the US presence in Europe, portraying Europe as a vassal of the USA and trying to undermine the sovereignty of European countries.

“Devaluation” of Victory Day means “devaluation” of Ukraine

Some forces intentionally tried to devalue the Victory Day only because Russia celebrates it, this meaning that Ukraine should not celebrate… The attempt to “devalue” Victory Day is an attempt to “devalue” the state of Ukraine itself.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative distorting the events of the Second World War. Since 2016, in the framework of the law on decommunisation, on 9 May, Ukraine began to celebrate "Victory Day over Nazism in World War II of 1939-1945." The holiday replaced the "Victory Day over fascism in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945." The relevant law No. 2539 “On the Perpetuation of the Victory over Nazism in World War II of 1939 - 1945” was adopted on 9 April 2015, by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The law defines the duty of the state and citizens of Ukraine to respect the memory of the victory over Nazism in WWII; war veterans, members of the Ukrainian liberation movement and the victims of Nazism. At the same time, while respecting the memory of those who fell during WWII, the use of Soviet symbols was cancelled. Instead, now the official symbol of the celebration of the Day of Victory over Nazism in WWII is the red poppy flower - the generally accepted symbol in the world for the celebration of significant days of WWII. Also, together with many EU countries, on 8 May, Ukraine annually celebrates Remembrance and Reconciliation Day. The holiday is celebrated on the day of the surrender of Nazi Germany on 8 May 1945.

Washington forced the EU to impose sanctions on Russia

The problem is that Europe is subject to strong pressure from Washington, which forced it to impose sanctions on Russia. Additionally, Europe politicises the coronavirus and every issue related to Russia even its humanitarian actions.

There is more than one example that proves that Europe is very much subject to American decisions, not only with regard to sanctions but also the nuclear agreement of Iran and many other issues. The important thing here is that the voices calling for the lifting of sanctions increase and strengthen, but Washington will not allow it.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the US presence in Europe, portraying Europe as a vassal of the USA and trying to undermine the sovereignty of European countries.

The European Union is a sovereign entity, created by the voluntary initiative of European nations, and it has its own, independent foreign policy. Its citizens are directly represented in the European Parliament and Member States are represented in the European Council and the Council of the EU. The United States of America is not part of these institutions. The US had no role in the creation of the EU and has no say in its decisions.
