Disinfo: Belarus is implementing an independent policy when Ukraine and Baltic states live under external control

The West wants to see a “compliant” Belarus with a different foreign policy course but Minsk, unlike the Baltic states, has not accepted external control.

The West cannot forgive Belarus for implementing an independent policy unlike Ukraine and the Baltic states, which lives under external control.

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative undermining the sovereignty of Ukraine and the Baltic states and presenting them as a puppets of the West.

Ukraine and the Baltic states are independent states and members of the Organisation of the United Nations. Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia are also full members of the European Union and NATO. The statement that these states are under external control is groundless.

See similar cases accusing Ukraine and the Baltic states as puppets of Western powers: Joe Biden will use Ukraine against Russia; Lithuania is not an independent state and does not have an army; US political uncertainty temporarily gives the Baltic states a larger degree of sovereignty.

Joe Biden was part of the Obama administration which fomented a Nazi coup in Ukraine in 2014

Joe Biden was part of the Obama administration which fomented a Nazi coup d’etat in Ukraine in 2014.

The article contains two recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives: the claim that Euromaidan was a coup d’etat and a disinformation narrative aimed at discrediting Joe Biden.

There was no coup d'état in Ukraine. The Obama administration and Joe Biden did not control the protests in Ukraine in 2013-2014. The spontaneous onset of the Euromaidan protests was a reaction by numerous segments of the Ukrainian population to former president Viktor Yanukovych’s sudden departure from the promised Association Agreement with the European Union in November 2013.

Gross US interference in the internal affairs of Russia is a proven fact

Gross US interference in the internal affairs of Russia is the same proven fact, as the “promotion “of fakes and calls for unauthorized actions by Washington-controlled Internet platforms. Support for the violation of the law by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is another confirmation of Washington’s behind-the-scenes role. Actions aimed at encouraging protests are part of the strategy of containing Russia.

The statement followed a tweet from Antoni Blinkens calling for the release of Alexei Navalny. This message is consistent with pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives that protests, disorders and civil uprisings are never manifestations of popular discontent but are "colour revolutions" directed and funded by Western or US intelligence services or other Western actors in order to destabilise targeted foreign states and bring about regime change. And the West is always an aggressive actor constantly preparing new coups and colour revolutions in post-Soviet states. This narrative has been applied, among others, to the Arab Spring revolts, Euromaidan in Ukraine, protests in Catalonia, Venezuela, Georgia, and Belarus.

“The Russian government makes a big mistake if it believes that this is about us,” Blinken said in the interview. “It’s about them. It’s about the government. It’s about the frustration that the Russian people have with corruption, with autocracy, and I think they need to look inward, not outward.”

The West defends Navalny, a fraudster who uses children as human shields as terrorists do

When they defend Alexei Navalny, Europe and the US are defending a blogger who is a fugitive from justice, charged on crimes of fraud and embezzlement and who in the middle of a pandemic is organising unauthorised demonstrations where he uses children as human shields, as terrorists do. In his flee from justice, his convalescence in Berlin can’t be presented as an excuse, after having felt bad on a domestic flight in Russia due to a metabolic disorder, which Germany disguised as an alleged poisoning. This led to a series of Western sanctions for which they only presented a handful of words in the air, with no further evidence.

Recurrent disinformation narrative about Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, aiming to discredit him and his opposition movement.

All the claims are false. Charges against Navalny are politically motivated and were presented while he was recovering in Berlin after the poisoning attempt on his life six months earlier, as a means of forcing him to stay in exile. The European Court of Human Rights has concluded that the original charges against Mr Navalny was politically motivated.
