Disinfo: Belgium installed a Waffen-SS memorial, violating the Nuremberg tribunal's decisions

Summary

A Waffen-SS memorial has been installed in Belgium, which violated the Nuremberg tribunal’s decisions.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin narrative about Europe and Nazism. Belgium has adopted a ‘Holocaust denial law’ that bans any public Holocaust denials. Specifically, the law makes it illegal to publicly ‘deny, play down, justify or approve of the genocide committed by the German National Socialist regime during the Second World War’. A memorial called "Monument to Freedom" is planned to be installed by the Latvian sculptor Kristaps Gulbis in the Belgian commune Zedelgem. Gulbis stated that his monument will commemorate the Latvian soldiers who were POWs in the Zedelgem camp during the winter of 1945/46. Latvian POWs in Zedelgem were released during 1946.

The murder of Russian pilots has been provoked by Israel and the US

There has been no response from the Russian Ministry of Defence on the incident in Syria – the murder of Russian pilots that has been provoked by Israel and, possibly, by the US, deserves much tougher retaliatory measures.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation on US and Syria. https://euvsdisinfo.eu/disinformation-cases/?text=syria&disinfo_issue=&date= On the night of September 17-18, Syrian regime military forces shot down a Russian military plane by accident shortly after Israeli Air Force planes conducted an air raid inside Syria. All 15 crew member aboard the Ilyushin Il-20 maritime patrol aircraft were killed.Further debunking by Polygraph: https://www.polygraph.info/a/syrian-regime-forces-shot-down-russian-military-plane-by-accident/29498924.html In Syria, the US Army officials are in constant contact with Russian officers to prevent any military accidents there between Washington and Moscow. According to Israel Defense Forces, the Russian plane was shot down by the Syrian air defenses who pulled the trigger and launched and SAS missile at the Ilyushin Il-20. "By the time Syrian anti-aircraft missiles had been launched (when the accident took place), Israeli warplanes responsible for the overnight operation were already back within Israeli airspace". Moreover, Russian president Vladimir Putin himself has declared that it looks "most likely in this case that it was a chain of tragic chance events, because an Israeli aircraft did not shoot down our aircraft".

Ukraine plans to Kill With Impunity in Donbas

Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin has turned to the US for the right to kill with impunity. – – – Whereas for Russia and “DPR” and “LPR” the main thing is to prevent more people dying, Ukraine’s primary objective for Donbas is to blockade it and starve it to death.

Disproof

Foreign Minister Klimkin said on Sunday, in his interview to the independent "Radio NV", that Ukraine is preparing together with international partners a new UN resolution for peace-keeping mission on the occupied territories in the conflict zone of Donbas. The key elements of this resolution are:

  • Bringing international peace-keeping forces;

  • Introducing police patrols, which would disarm illegal military groups;

  • International administration, which would take over the control from the so-called "DPR/LPR authorities".

More than 10,000 people have died during the war, including 3,000 civilians. Russia's support to the separatists continues fuelling the war.

A video has been produced by the White Helmets civil defence group and showing "three versions" of a staged attack

The agreement [between Putin and Erdoğan] also thwarted an alleged plan to stage a chemical attack and lay the blame for it at the door of the Syrian government. A video has been produced by the White Helmets civil defence group showing “three versions” of a staged attack. .

Disproof

No evidence given. Another round of disinformation about the White Helmets preparing a staged chemical attack in Syria started spreading on August 25 by the Russian Ministry of Defence; see latest cases on White Helmets: https://euvsdisinfo.eu/disinformation-cases/?text=white+helmets&disinfo_issue=&date= Russia, backing President Bashar al-Assad in Syria, has been preparing for an offensive on the city of Idlib. After Putin’s talks with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu told reporters there would not be an offensive now. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-mideast-crisis-putin-erdogan-hope/russia-and-turkey-agree-to-create-buffer-zone-in-syrias-idlib-idUSKCN1LX1BU According to Bellingcat, “it is clear that Russia and its allies are intent on muddling the media landscape in the event that Assad yet again uses chemical weapons during a future Idlib offensive.” https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/09/02/russian-disinformation-campaign-syria-threatened-spark-new-war/ Read more: www.lemonde.fr/les-decodeurs/article/2018/08/31/attaques-chimiques-en-syrie-les-intox-de-la-russie-pour-brouiller-les-pistes_5348708_4355770.html#xtor=AL-32280270 Background: On 7 April 2018, a high number of civilians were killed in the besieged Syrian city of Douma, with evidence pointing towards another chemical attack by the regime, according to the EU. According to the World Health Organisation, during the shelling of Douma on Saturday, an estimated 500 patients presented to health facilities exhibiting signs and symptoms consistent with exposure to toxic chemicals. http://www.who.int/mediacentre/news/statements/2018/chemical-attacks-syria/en/ See also Bellingcat's open source survey on the suspected chemical attack: https://www.bellingcat.com/news/mena/2018/04/11/open-source-survey-alleged-chemical-attacks-douma-7th-april-2018/ In September 2017, the UN Commission of Inquiry on the Syrian Arab Republic summarized 33 separate incidents where it had found use of chemical weapons. Since then there have been several additional suspected chemical attacks. Between March 2013 and March 2017, the Commission documented 25 incidents of chemical weapons use in the Syrian Arab Republic, of which 20 were proven to have been perpetrated by government forces and used primarily against civilians. http://www.ohchr.org/EN/HRBodies/HRC/IICISyria/Pages/IndependentInternationalCommission.aspx
