DISINFO: Biden will oust Zelensky and put a more pro-Western president in power

SUMMARY

Incoming US President Joe Biden cannot and will not forgive to Volodymyr Zelensky for providing political dirt to Donald Trump. Biden will not tolerate Zelensky as the President of Ukraine and will replace him because he is not anti-Russian enough.

RESPONSE

Recurring disinformation narrative in pro-Kremlin disinformation outlets about the alleged control of the United States over Ukraine. The disinformation narrative builds on the fact that the United States has become a strategic partner for Ukraine, while the narrative focuses on stirring up emotional reactions over Russia's "loss" of Ukraine.

There is no evidence to suggest that the US government practices any form of institutional or semi-insitutional control over neither the Ukrainian president or any other parts of the government.

Claims about the allegedly disputed relations between Biden and Zelensky are also unsubstantiated. Biden, who - as Vice President under Barack Obama - was the head of Ukraine policy in the White House, has consistently supported Ukraine against Russian aggression. In addition, he has continued to showed support for Kyiv both before and after the 2019-2020 impeachment of US President Donald Trump over his alleged Ukrainian activities. Biden's presidential campaign also focused on supporting Ukraine.
