Disinfo: Boycotting Damascus conference on refugees could lead to a new wave of international terrorism

Summary

The United States not only ignored the refugee conference held in Damascus at the initiative of Russia but also called on other countries to boycott it. This could contribute, in one way or another, to a new wave of international terrorism.

Disproof

A recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative claiming the West has been worsening the humanitarian situation in Syria.

No official data or evidence backs the claim that the US lack of participation in the conference is in any way linked to the rise of global terrorism.

The reason the US and other Western countries decided not to attend the conference is because it was deemed premature, since conditions inside Syria at present do not lend themselves to the promotion of large-scale voluntary return, in conditions of safety and dignity in line with international law. This situation has been confirmed by independent media reporting and UN organisations.

For example, UNHCR states that the conditions for a safe, voluntary and dignified return, as per international law, are not currently met. Eight years after the outbreak of the conflict, the situation in Syria is still critical, with millions of Syrians displaced and in need of protection and humanitarian assistance. The potential for violence remains high. The creation of the Constitutional Committee is a positive step but much remains to be done towards a sustainable resolution of the conflict.

See similar cases that Syrian refugees cannot return due to the Western sanctions and that the EU and the West supported terrorism in Syria and now don't want to help the Syrian refugees to return.

This disinformation message appeared in the same article as the claim that the United States has blocked humanitarian aid to Syria.

Disinfo: Kyiv is against the return of its soldiers from "LDNR"

Kyiv is against the return of its (captured) soldiers from LDNR. The telegram channel “Klymenko Time” published on Thursday 21 January information that Kyiv is against the return of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers to Viktor Medvedchuk.

Disproof

This is a pro-Kremlin narrative aimed to discredit Ukraine.

Ukraine is not against recalling Ukrainian soldiers who are in captivity in the territories not controlled by Kyiv. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine opposed the decision to transfer prisoners to a private person - Viktor Medvedchuk, who happens to be Putin's personal friend.

Disinfo: Biden came to power after a colour revolution

In a manner very similar to the Ukrainian events [in 2014], Biden has seized power from Trump in the US. This is a kind of geopolitical cycle in nature: at first, the United States “Americanised” Ukraine, tested it twice during “colour revolutions” and, in the end, practically turned it into its neo-colony under its own rigid external control with the use of native collaborators. Now the Ukrainian methods have been applied in the United States: the “colour revolution” technology was successfully used in the struggle for power.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about colour revolutions, recent US Presidential elections, and the Ukrainian statehood.

There was no colour revolution in the US. Allegations of electoral fraud have been dismissed more than 60 times by different US courts and judges, both Republican and Democrats, due to lack of any significant evidence, including by the Supreme Court on two occasions. There were extensive investigations about possible fraud, which turned out to be unfounded. This unprecedented scrutiny led to the conclusion that the November 3rd elections were the most secure elections in the history of the United States. Donald Trump lost the presidential election and the next US president, Joe Biden, was inaugurated on the 20th of January, 2021.

Disinfo: The Polish position on Belarus is exceptionally hostile

Probably, no Belarusian will argue with Poland. Another thing is that Poland will argue with Belarus. The actions realised by Poland after the Presidential elections in Belarus show that the attitude of the Polish state towards this country is exceptionally hostile.

Therefore, Poland will not achieve anything good unless it changes its Eastern foreign policy. No one in Minsk will dream about the Intermarium [geopolitical concept promoting the partnership of Central and Eastern European countries] together with Poles; no one will give up the Belarusian sovereignty in the name of Polish geopolitical ambitions. Belarus clearly supports its alliance with Russia – Poland should accept this fact and give up its attempts to drag Belarus to another geopolitical camp.

Disproof

A recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Western attempts to organise a colour revolution in Belarus – Poland is presented here as a country with hostile and aggressive plans towards Belarus.

The claims that Poland “occupies an exceptionally hostile position on Belarus” or it has some aggressive geopolitical plans towards this country are unfounded. Poland is a neighbour of Belarus and it continues to support the Belarusian people. Poland respects the principles of international law and does not intervene in the domestic affairs of any country.
