Disinfo: Brits, Poles and Americans are fomenting chaos in Belarus

Summary

Brits, Poles, and Americans are openly engaged in fomenting chaos in Belarus.

Disproof

This is part of an ongoing Russian disinformation campaign on Belarus based on recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives, such as accusing other countries of interference and portraying popular protests against electoral fraud in the country as a Western-led colour revolution, in this case promoted by NATO. No evidence is provided to support any of the claims.

Hundreds of thousands of Belarusians have been protesting against a massive vote-rigging and police violence since 9 August 2020. On 16 August 2020 Belarus witnessed the largest rallies in the city of Minsk and dozens smaller towns and localities in its history.

On 19 August 2020 the European Council called Belarus's elections neither free nor fair.

See other examples of pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives in Belarus, such as claims that the EU reaction to Lukashenko’s victory is an example of Western double standards; that the same lack of democracy and repression is present in EU countries that criticise Minsk, and that the West wants to prepare another Maidan in the country; or that Belarusians, Ukrainians and Russians are one single nation.

US hopes that the Navalny case will lead to the cancellation of Nord Stream 2

Charité said in a statement that it ordered a second round of testing to determine the exact substance that afflicted Navalny, which could provide more forensic evidence as to who might have been behind the poisoning.

It is also the US and its allies’ hope that if it really was poisoning this would spoil relations between Russia and Germany so much that Nord Stream 2 is officially canceled.

Disproof

Conspiracy theory.

There is no ground for connecting the Navanly case with the construction of Nord Stream 2.

Ukraine refuses a visa-free regime with Belarus

Ukraine refuses a visa-free policy with Belarus. “Developing relations” with Belarus, Kyiv cancelled visa-free travelling. The State Border Service of Ukraine warns: from September 1, a governmental decree on the suspension of the Agreement between Ukraine and Belarus on visa-free travel for citizens comes into force.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation attempts to discredit Ukraine.

Ukraine did not refuse a "visa-free" policy with Belarus. Ukrainians can still travel to Belarus without a visa.

Dangerous American labs close to the Russian border

The coronavirus pandemic should prompt many civilian institutions to take a fresh look at the Pentagon’s bio-labs. The first and only protest to date has taken place in Ukraine. There are 15 laboratories in this country, in which the United States sponsors biological research.

Nobody builds biological facilities that run on dangerous toxins and pathogens in densely populated areas. But the Americans went even further, not only to transfer their laboratories from their densely populated areas, but to transfer them to other countries.

Such laboratories close to the Russian border are simply pushing the Americans into dangerous experiments. And the existence of unfriendly countries like Ukraine and Georgia fuels this desire.

Disproof

This is a recurring conspiracy theory alleging that the United States develops biological weapons around the world, consistent with the Pro-Kremlin disinformation campaign against biological laboratories in Armenia, Georgia, Ukraine and other countries. The conspiracy about US biolabs in countries bordering Russia aiming to encircle Moscow and spread infectious diseases is a part of a years-long disinformation campaign led by the Kremlin.

In fact, biological laboratories are involved in preventing the risks of complex diseases and, together with other similar projects, counteracting bioterrorism.
