Disinfo: Canada is not an independent state, but an obedient puppet of the US

Canada is always obediently walking alongside Washington’s “master” like a pocket dog. It supports America in the most unbelievable adventures. Canada suddenly got excited and started barking at the White House. Canada is not an independent state. The whole of Canada is the obedient puppet of the United States. And suddenly, the “slave revolt.” On January 15, Trudeau made a sensational statement: “The United States and Iran are equally to blame for the tragedy with Ukrainian Boeing.”

This is a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Western countries, Canada in particular, as US vassal states. Pro-Kremlin outlets often use this narrative of different countries being under the American thumb to imply that their national sovereignty is under threat and that they have limited power. It is also often used to drive wedges and foment tension between allies.

Canada, like the US, is a sovereign country and makes sovereign decisions about its own security and politics. More about US-Canada relations can be read here and here.

The disinformation claim distorts Justin Trudeau's comments about the plan crash. Trudeau said that escalating tensions between the United States and Iran were to blame for the downing of a Ukraine International Airlines flight in Tehran. "This is something that happens when you have conflict and war: Innocents bear the brunt of it. And it is a reminder why all of us need to work so hard on de-escalation moving forward, to reduce tensions and find a pathway that doesn't involve further conflict and killing." Iran has admitted its responsibility for downing the Ukrainian jet.

For similar disinformation cases, see for example claims that the US regards the EU as a protectorate, that the EU is a servant of US geopolitics, that Japan is not fully sovereign, that Germany is a vassal of the US and the executor of US hegemony over Europe, and that G7 countries are either insignificant or not fully sovereign.

Poland presents a different history of WWII and ignores facts presented by new documents

In honour of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Warsaw, documents were published that no one had ever seen. They shed light on the events that happened during the occupation of Poland, even though there was no Poland then, it was a part of the Third Reich. Today in Poland they prefer not to remember this. They present a different [version of] history. In every way, they ignore many facts.

This message is part of the Kremlin’s policy of historical revisionism. It accuses Poland of falsification and re-writing of history. According to this policy, the official Russian historiography is the only “true” way of interpreting the historical events of the countries of Eastern and Central Europe.

On January 9th, the Polish parliament adopted a resolution “condemning the provocative and untrue statements by representatives of the highest authorities of the Russian Federation attempting to hold Poland liable for the Second World War.” In December 2019, Polish Prime Minister issued a statement about false pro-Kremlin narratives attacking Poland - see here.

US and its allies enforce suppression of truth

Without enforced suppression of truth, there would be no way that the U.S. and its allied regimes could continue hiding the lies that were behind the coup against Ukraine in 2014

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative depicting the 2013-14 protests in Kyiv as a coup d’état orchestrated by the West.

There was no coup d’état in Ukraine. The onset of the Euromaidan protests was a spontaneous  and endogenous reaction by numerous segments of the Ukrainian population to former President Yanukovych’s sudden withdrawal from the promised Association Agreement with the European Union in November 2013.

ISIS has been a useful tool of Israel and the US to keep Syria in chaos

The ISIS call to attack Israel comes at a time when the terrorist group has suffered major defeats and its self-proclaimed ‘Caliphate’ has collapsed. Despite carrying out deadly attacks throughout the world over the past years, ISIS has never attacked Israel. For years, the terrorist group controlled a large chunk of territory near the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights in Syria. Nonetheless, the group did not use this foothold to attack Israeli forces. In fact, it was a useful tool of Israel and the United States in their joint efforts to overthrow the Assad government and keep Syria in chaos.

No evidence is given. Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative claiming that the US and other Western states are supporting or working together with ISIS in the Middle East. In reality, US is a member of the global coalition against Daesh.
