DISINFO: Constant intimidation with Russia is used to make Poland economically dependent on the USA

SUMMARY

The goal of Mr. Waszczykowski [former Head of the Polish MFA] is deeper economic dependency of Poland on the United States, this is manifested in the purchasing of expensive American gas. There is no talk about any military conflict in the region or a military confrontation between NATO and Russia as these are unreal. The constant intimidation with Russia and the spread of Russophobia has an economic dimension. Poland has to purchase American gas and weapons, provide the USA with beneficial concessions for the extraction of silver and copper and boycott the tax on the American digital giants (despite the EU position).

RESPONSE

A common pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative on “lost sovereignty”. In the case of Poland, this country is often presented as a “puppet-state” or a “banana republic” of the United States, which fully controls its domestic and foreign policy. Poland is a sovereign state, which shapes its own foreign and domestic policies. The political, economic and military relations between Poland and the United States have a mutually beneficial character. In terms of the purchase of the American LNG, according to the statement of the Head of the Polish state-owned energy concern PGNiG Piotr Woźniak, the deliveries of the American LNG are cheaper than Russian gas by over 20%. See other examples of this message claiming that Polish policy towards Ukraine is shaped by the Americans, the US keeps Poland on a short anti-Russian leash, and Poland is a Trojan Horse of the United States.
