Disinfo: Coronavirus targets exclusively one race

Summary

The China coronavirus is a genetic weapon, designed to target exclusively Mongoloids. The events in China are beneficial for the current US Administration, which seeks to bring Beijing to its knees.

In a strange way, the start of the epidemic coincided with the final part of the negotiations between China and the United States on a trade agreement.

Disproof

Conspiracy theory. This is a pro-Kremlin narrative about the China coronavirus.

In response to the outbreak of the corona virus the Chinese authorities have placed more than a dozen cities under quarantine. The World Health Organisation is working with Chinese authorities and global experts to learn more about the virus. The virus "2019-nCoV” comes from a family of viruses that include the common cold, and viruses such as SARS and MERS. There is no evidence to suggest it was developed artificially as a weapon of mass destruction.

The conspiracy theory also refers the recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about US military biological labs circling Russia. See disinformation examples related to the Lugar lab in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Expert: The coronavirus will kill Ukraine in days

The coronavirus will kill Ukraine in days, according to the expert Olyaksandr Teplyuk. If the virus should spread to Ukraine, the country, where the Ministry of Health is in disarray and the national health care system is in ruins, will not be able to cope with this challenge. If the contagion, God forbid, should appear, there will be no one capable of addressing the issue. The only thing Ukraine can do is to sit down and declare that all is under control.

Disproof

An unfounded claim on Ukraine's readiness for handling cases of the coronavirus. Ukraine's national security council have convened to discuss means of containing an outbreak of the virus. The expert referred to in the claim is not an expert in medical issues. This claim is in line with a recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative, questioning Ukraine's state institutions. See other examples here and here.

The anti-Orthodox policy of Montenegro’s authorities is inspired by the US

The anti-orthodox policy of Montenegro’s authorities is inspired by the United States.

Disproof

Conspiracy theory; no evidence given. This claim involves the recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative that the West threatens and undermines traditional Christian values. Related cases where the US is accused of attacking traditional values in Europe via "sects" can be found herehere, and here.

Greta Thunberg is part of a scheme to enrich a handful of financial giants

Featured speaker [at the World Economic Forum in Davos] was the young Swedish activist Greta Thunberg. What few realize is how carefully all this is being orchestrated to prepare a massive shift in global capital flows where a handful of financial giants stand to gain.

Disproof

This claim is a conspiracy theory, and a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about international youth protests started by the Swedish activist Greta Thunberg.

This is also a recurring disinformation narrative about the West exploiting the environmental agenda and climate change topic to do harm to Russia, and that global warming is a "hoax" perpetrated by special interest groups like green businesses that stand to benefit from the climate hysteria. In fact, the existence of anthropogenic climate change is a matter of scientific consensus. Only a tiny minority of scientists dispute this consensus: the Earth is warming through the greenhouse effect; human activities - including use of fossil fuels, cutting down rain-forests, and farming livestock - are a major cause of the warming; and, unchecked, this rapid warming presents significant risks to human communities and natural systems. Preventing dangerous consequences of climate change is a key priority for the EU.
