Disinfo: Coronavirus was developed by biologists to create a vaccine against AIDS

French Nobel prize laureate Dr. Luc Montaigner is affirming that the coronavirus was created in laboratories. Dr. Montaigner believes that the SARS-CoV-2 virus was developed by biologists, and that HIV particles were added to the virus. Speaking about the purpose of creating the virus, the scientist said that it was probably done with the desire to create a vaccine against AIDS. According to Montaigner, the new coronavirus came from a laboratory in Wuhan, China.

Sputnik amplifying conspiracy theory about the 2019-nCoV coronavirus, there is no evidence to suggest that the virus was fabricated inside laboratories.

According to scientific community, commonalities between the SARS-CoV-2, which causes the COVID-19, and HIV are tiny, and can be found in many other viruses. Thus, there is no evidence to claim that the virus is man-made or that HIV particles have been added to it. See further debunk by Radio - Canada (in French).

This Coronavirus comes from a family of viruses that include the common cold and viruses such as SARS and MERS. The medical Journal “Emerging Microbes & Infections” specifically said there is “No credible evidence supporting claims of the laboratory engineering”.

NATO members have been unable to deal collectively with the coronavirus pandemic

The pandemic has revealed NATO’s vulnerabilities because NATO members have been unable to deal collectively with the spread of the coronavirus. What would happen if a terrorist group used a biological or chemical weapon?

This is part of recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about the inability of NATO and the EU to assist their member states in fighting the coronavirus and about the alleged disintegration of the EU, NATO and other Western bodies.

NATO has been doing a great deal to assist all member states in the fight against COVID-19. This includes facilitating the airlift of crucial medical supplies and equipment,  matching requests for support with offers from allies and partners, setting up field hospitals. Many Allies, including the Czech Republic, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, North Macedonia, Romania, Slovakia, and Spain have benefited from this support.

Ukraine ceased to exist as a state

Ukraine simply ceased to exist as a state. This began long before the coup, when government posts were turned into a feeding trough, and the state into a single corruption mechanism, where everyone steals from everyone.

Due to coronavirus, the West’s tolerance to Nazism and racism will increase

The Western countries will probably not provide massive aid to African countries, as they are suffering themselves and national egoism is currently in vogue. Africa will face chaos, wars and a rise of extremism as a result, which in turn will provoke a surge of far-right extremism in Europe. Especially when Europe already has its own hot-beads of nationalism and neo-Nazism – its is Ukraine and almost all of the Eastern Europe.

The West will be more and more tolerant to historical revisionism, the review of the WWII outcomes, and ultimately the revival of Nazism and racism. China, Russia and its allies will resist these trends.

European Union has launched its “Team Europe” package to support partner countries in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic and its consequences. The EU will help the most vulnerable countries in Africa and elsewhere to respond to the immediate health crisis, strengthen health, water and sanitation systems, mitigate immediate social and economic consequences of the pandemic.  The overall figure of the “Team Europe” package reaches more than 20 billion euros.
