Disinfo: Czechia is ruled by American and British intelligence agencies

Summary

(The Czech Republic has now announced the results of the investigations into the 2014 explosion) ... because the authority in Czechia and its security services are subordinate to the American and British agencies.

Czechia has now taken this step after it responded to American pressure and dictates because it couldn't say no. It is known .. that Czech intelligence is directly subordinate to its American counterpart, not to President Milos Zeman.

It is clear that the Czech Republic today cannot take its own decisions and is not independent and that is why its relationship with Russia has deteriorated. And now its relationship is following a path dictated by the West, especially the United States of America.

Disproof

An unsubstantiated pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the Vrbětice ammunition warehouse bombings in the Czech Republic, attempting to ridicule the revelations about the GRU's involvement by launching groundless claims that the actions of Prague were due to Western and US pressure.

Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš and the temporary Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Hamáček announced on 17 April 2021 that the Czech intelligence services collected evidence demonstrating Russian involvement in the 2014 Vrbětice explosion.

According to Mr Babiš, the first discussions around the GRU’s involvement took place on 7 April 2021.

Prague's findings were independently corroborated in the course of an investigation jointly conducted by Bellingcat, The Insider (Russia), Der Spiegel (Germany), and Respekt.cz (Czech Republic).

The Czech investigation into the explosions gained new momentum after the 2018 Salisbury poisonings when the news magazine Respekt said investigators received new information that two Russians identified by Britain as the main culprits in the Salisbury attack, both members of military intelligence sabotage and assassination squad known as Unit 29155, turned out to be the same men Czech investigators had long suspected of involvement in Vrbetice explosion but had not been able to identify earlier.

See other examples of these disinformation narratives about Russia as a faultless victim of the West in our database, such as the affirmation that it is NATO and not the Kremlin who is involved in the Donbas conflict; denials that Russia had any role in the poisoning of Sergey Skripal or the downing of MH17; or claims that neither the US Intelligence Committee report nor the Mueller report found any evidence of Russian interference in the 2016 US elections, that there is no proof that Russia tried to influence the Brexit referendum, that “absurd” accusations against Russia are an attempt to demonise it, that the West invented Navalny’s poisoning to uphold the myth of aggressive Russia, and that Czech allegations aim to overshadow failed attempt on Lukashenka's life.

Disinfo: The West using Ukraine as a tool to undermine peace and security in the Black Sea region

The West contributes to global destabilisation, in particular, it is actively trying to push Russia against its neighbours. This is what, for example, the "Crimean Platform for de-occupation" is aimed at. This is an absolute provocation aimed at inciting Ukraine, using it as a tool to undermine peace and security in the Black Sea-Mediterranean basin. This cannot lead to anything good. Western countries will not get anything good from this. They will only jeopardise their own safety.

Disproof

Unfounded statement about the West's aggressive agenda around the world, and hostile attitude to Russia. The article also contains a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Ukrainian statehood, claiming that Ukraine is under external control. Several previous disinformation cases on Ukraine being under foreign control can be found in our database.

Ukraine is not ruled on the orders of a belligerent West or the US. Ukraine's territorial integrity is respected by most of the world but was violated by Russia in 2014. Ukraine is not a Russophobic country. It had to react to Russia's aggressive actions in Eastern Ukraine and the occupation and illegal annexation of Crimea in 2014.

Disinfo: There is no evidence that Russia interfered in the 2020 US presidential election

There is no evidence that Russia interfered in the 2020 US presidential election.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation theme attempting to depict accusations of Russian interference in the 2020 US presidential elections, in the 2016 US presidential elections, and in other political processes in Western countries as factually unfounded.

The US Treasury Department stated that Russian Intelligence Services “operate a network of websites that obscure their Russian origin to appeal to Western audiences” - including outlets such as SouthFront, NewsFront, InfoRos and the Strategic Culture Foundation - that “focus on divisive issues in the United States, denigrate U.S. political candidates, and disseminate false and misleading information”, and took part in a coordinated effort to interfere in the recent US presidential elections.

Disinfo: Crimean referendum and secession from Ukraine fully complied with Article 138 of the Constitution of Ukraine

As for Crimea, one time (1991) an Autonomous Republic, despite the position of the local population, remained part of Ukraine. The rights of the Crimean people were more or less protected. But after the nationalists came to power, when the slogan "Crimea without Russians" was sounded, the lives and security of the inhabitants of the peninsula were endangered. A decision had to be made, it was made. The Crimean referendum and secession from Ukraine fully complied with Article 138 of the Constitution of Ukraine.

Disproof

Manipulative statements. Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about the illegal annexation of Crimea, claiming that it voted to rejoin Russia through a legal referendum.

Crimea is an internationally recognised part of Ukraine. Іn 1997, by signing the Friendship Agreement with Ukraine, Russia also recognised that Crimea belongs to Ukraine.
