Disinfo: Don't trust Moderna vaccine, nothing is known about the company

Summary

The American company “Moderna” does not possess a good reputation even in its homeland, as the American media describes it as the most mysterious company in the world, in addition to its reliance on a policy of complete anonymity and concealment.

One of the most prestigious scientific magazines in the United States states in its report on the American company that “in nine years of work, Moderna did not provide the public with a single vaccine, not a single drug – absolutely nothing. What were these men doing in the labs? Maybe they were saving the world?” Now the inhabitants of Earth will have to test their first product, a vaccine against the Coronavirus.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin narrative related to the coronavirus aiming discredit “western” vaccine in order to promote Russian-made vaccines, a disinformation campaign launched after approval of the Sputnik V vaccine was met with scepticism and criticism, even by Russian specialists in the country.

Moderna, formerly known as “ModeRNA Therapeutics” when it was formed in 2010, is using a new class of medicines made of mRNA, which is a fundamentally different approach than treating disease with other drug classes.

Moderna already published their milestones since the company was formed, including collaboration with other well-known laboratories, and commencing preliminary tests on Flu and cancer vaccines.

Moderna has more than 20 experimental drugs and vaccines for cancer, infectious diseases and other conditions in development, but none are close to being commercially available to patients.

Furthermore, Moderna announced in April 2020 that it has received $483 million from the American Department of Health “Operation Warp Speed” to facilitate and accelerate the development, manufacturing, and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines.

The same disinformation campaign includes statements such as 6 people died because of the Pfizer vaccine; that "Russian progress in COVID-19 vaccine has become for the West an outrageous challenge"; that the WHO and Microsoft sabotaged the Russian vaccine, or that the WHO confirmed that the Sputnik V was on Phase 3 of clinical testing already in August 2020.

This same article contained another disinformation message claiming that countries are rushing to get the Pfizer vaccine that has yet to conclude its clinical trials.

Italy lost its independence to the EU, and the latter is under US control

Italy has lost its independence, so it has no right to its own opinion. Therefore, its policy towards Russia is not the policy of Italy itself. There is no independence in Italy since there are such structures as the European Union, which cannot be called free. If we talk about the attitude towards Russia, the EU does not defend its interests, but the interests of the US.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation portraying Europe as a vassal of the US and trying to undermine the EU and sovereignty of its member states. This narrative claims that European countries are no longer truly sovereign and the US dictates policies to the EU and its member states.

Italy is a sovereign, independent country. It is a member of the EU since its inception in 1957.

The US pushes Lithuania to buy American gas

Lithuanian’s aspiration to refuse to buy Russian gas economically is not practical. Lithuania is buying American SNG because Washington pushes it to do so. The US wants to promote its fuel in this way in the European market.

Disproof

Disinformation around Lithuania's LNG terminal.

Lithuania took steps to diversify its gas sector because Russia uses sources of energy as a tool of influence on other countries. The LNG terminal in Klaipeda harbour broke the Russian gas monopoly in the country and ensures Lithuania's energy security.

NATO's true mission is to destroy Russia

It must be said that Pompeo and Trump’s statements prove NATO’s true mission around the world, which is to create and reinforce an army that works only against Russia, and seeks to destroy it.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about NATO.

NATO is in no way directed against Russia or any other state. NATO’s objectives are set out in the 1949 Washington Treaty which forms the legal basis of the alliance. The treaty states that parties “are resolved to unite their efforts for collective defence and for the preservation of peace and security”.
