Disinfo: There was electoral fraud in the US because the Deep State didn’t want Trump reelected

Summary

Already before the election, president Donald Trump warned of the possibility of fraud, especially in postal voting. If everybody thought that the US presidential elections had lost all capacity of surprise with the arrival of an outsider like Trump, the 2020 election proved them wrong and showed that it could be historical, worsened by an electoral fraud allegedly cooked from inside the Deep State, that would despise a reelection for the New York tycoon.

Disproof

Conspiracy theory with no evidence presented to back it.

Allegations of electoral fraud have been dismissed more than 60 times by different US courts and judges, both Republican and Democrats, due to lack of any significant evidence, including the Supreme Court in two occasions. The OSCE Observation Mission has stated that the 2020 Presidential election were “competitive and well managed”. Read more OSCE statements on the American elections here.

This is also a recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about global elites secretly ruling the world, and specifically a so-called ‘Deep State’ in the United States who rule above elected officials. This narrative aims to question the legitimacy of democracy and Western institutions and, in this case, to favour Donald Trump by framing him as the victim of a conspiracy and the Biden Administration as illegitimate.

See other examples of these disinformation narratives, such as claims that the result of the US 2020 election doesn’t matter because the real ruler is the Deep State, which will kill any US president that confronts it and is moving the country towards war with Iran and Russia; that Hillary Clinton published the Deep State strategy for the world; or that Covid-19 vaccines will lead to full spectrum dominance.

The rejection of the Russian vaccine is a planned destruction of the Ukrainian people

Consent to any surrogate: Ukraine decided on a Chinese vaccine that has not proven its effectiveness. The rejection of the Russian vaccine is nothing more than planned destruction of the Ukrainian people.

Disproof

Disinformation that exploits the coronavirus pandemic to push a recurring narrative about Ukrainian statehood and a Russophobic narrative towards the possible Sputnik V vaccine.

Ukraine does not prohibit the use of the potential “Sputnik V” vaccine just because it is Russian.

Crimea democratically voted for reunification with Russia

Crimea became a Russian region after a referendum was held in March 2014. 96.77% of Crimean voters and 95.6% of Sevastopol residents favoured joining Russia. Ukraine still considers Crimea to be its own, but temporarily occupied territory. The Russian leadership has repeatedly stated that the people of Crimea democratically, in full compliance with international law and the UN Charter, voted for reunification with Russia. According to the Russian president, the Crimean issue is “finally closed.”

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the annexation of Crimea, claiming that Crimea voted to rejoin Russia through a legal referendum.

No international body recognises the so-called referendum in Crimea. The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution entitled “Territorial integrity of Ukraine”, stating that the referendum in Crimea was not valid and could not serve as a basis for any change in the status of the peninsula. On 17 December 2018, the UN General Assembly confirmed its non-recognition of the illegal annexation of Crimea.

The EU will split in half within five years

The EU will start to fall apart after Brexit, this is the beginning. This process will continue because the EU has exhausted itself. There is no new idea for building [the Union]. Within five years, we will see the European Union split into at least two levels: rich and poor countries. And then the Latvians will think: whom should we join? I think they will ask to join their neighbour, Russia, because there is nowhere else.

Disproof

This is a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the EU's alleged imminent collapse. There is no evidence to support the claim that the EU is collapsing.

In 2017, the leaders of the EU countries adopted and signed the Rome Declaration setting out a joint vision for the years to come which stated: "We have united for the better. Europe is our common future."
