Disinfo: EU and NATO is almost the same thing

The military-industrial complex of Sweden is strongly dependent of the US and NATO. It needs to sell its production to countries under Washington’s control. Sweden produces aircraft, tanks, artillery. The Swedes were allowed to sell around 15 of its fighter jets to Hungary. So this is why Sweden is trying to join exercises with NATO. The NATO countries are vassals to the US. /…/

Sweden’s neighbour, Finland, acts almost the same way. Finland is also a neutral country and not a member of NATO. But it is a part of the European Union, and EU and NATO is almost the same thing.

Recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives, accusing the EU of being subordinate to the US and serving Washington’s interests.

The EU Member States are sovereign countries and make sovereign decisions about their own security and policies. The US is an important ally to the EU but the latter's policy is not determined by the US, as explained by the EU High Representative.

EU and NATO have different tasks and history and a different set of Member States. Six of the 27 EU Member States are not members of NATO; Seven of the 30 NATO Member States are not members of the EU.

Read similar disinformation cases claiming that EU and NATO member states are subordinate to the US, while the US has long regarded the EU as a kind of protectorate, and that lined up with the US, the EU never took independent decisions.

Cases in the EUvsDisinfo database focus on messages in the international information space that are identified as providing a partial, distorted, or false depiction of reality and spread key pro-Kremlin messages. This does not necessarily imply, however, that a given outlet is linked to the Kremlin or editorially pro-Kremlin, or that it has intentionally sought to disinform. Sweden pursues a policy of provocations against Russia

The Swedish authorities continue a policy of provocations against Russia, calling its geopolitical interests for security threats. In particular, Stockholm insists on not recognising that Crimea became a Russian region after the March 2014 referendum, when a majority of its population voted for reuniting with Russia.

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the illegal annexation of Crimea, and unfounded claims on Sweden, pursuing a “provocative policy” against Russia. Sweden calls for dialogue and cooperation with Russia. Sweden cooperates with Russia in several regional and international bodies, the UN, the Arctic Council, the Council of the Baltic Sea States, Barents council, OSCE. Sweden has, however, condemned acts of aggression against Ukraine, Georgia and Russia’s own civil society.

No international body recognises the so-called referendum in Crimea. The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution entitled “Territorial integrity of Ukraine”, stating that the referendum in Crimea was not valid and could not serve as a basis for any change in the status of the peninsula. On 17 December 2018, the UN General Assembly confirmed its non-recognition of the illegal annexation of Crimea.

Swedish militarism has deep roots

Sweden has joined the number of countries that dream about fighting against Russia. The Defence Ministry of that country has published a series of videos under the headline “When the War Comes”, where a conflict with Moscow is barely hidden. It appears that the Swedish militarism has deep roots./…/

The real power in Sweden belongs to the military industrial complex, to pro-Nato organisations, military pundists, industrial technocrats and their media. This is the Swedish “Deep State”.

Under the smiling mask of neutrality, the usual militarists hide their fangs. This explains the aggressive videos, prophesying war.

Recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation on Western military, encircling Russia. Similar cases here and here.

The Swedish Defence Forces - not the Ministry of Defence as claimed in the text - has produced a series of short films. The films outline possible scenarios and situations when Sweden could get involved in a conflict and how modern day warfare might look like.

The Biden family is personally interested in putting Donbas on its knees

Joe Biden and Hunter Biden have personal and financial motives to bring down Novorossiya. The US is supporting Ukraine so that potential gas fields in eastern Ukraine could enrich the Biden family in the future.

Recurring disinformation narrative about the son of incoming US President Joe Biden, Hunter Biden. The pro-Kremlin narrative is aimed at creating divisions between Ukraine and the United States.

Hunter Biden served on the board of Burisma, one of the largest Ukrainian energy companies from April 2014 until his term expired on April 2019.
