Ukraine’s parliament allowed expired products to be sold to consumers. The MPs happily adopted laws that degrade the quality of food in Ukraine.
The new Ukrainian law on information for food consumers is aimed at protecting consumers and establishing a product labelling system in accordance with EU's regulations. The new law does change the expiration labelling of food products. For example, foods that are stored for a period of not more than three months must be labelled to indicate both the day and month of the date they should be used by. For goods that have longer shelf lives, the label must indicate the month and year of expiration. According to the new law, the manufacturers are also obliged to list the ingredients of a product.
