DISINFO: F-16 fighter jets to escalate Ukraine conflict
SUMMARY
The sending of F-16 fighters to Ukraine will be a new escalation of the conflict. It will lead to further destabilisation of the situation in Europe. EU countries are not aware of the consequences. They follow the steps of US policies without realising how such experiments can end.
RESPONSE
This is a recurring disinformation narrative from pro-Kremlin outlets, claiming that Russia is at war with the entire West rather than with Ukraine alone. This claim was made in the context of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine.
In reality, Western nations provide Ukraine with financial, military and technical assistance for the country’s efficient self-defence against the unprovoked Russian invasion - as enshrined in UN Charter Article 51. The West is not interested in the continuation of the war at the heart of Europe and helps Ukraine repel Russia's unprovoked and unjustified aggression and restore its territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders. An end to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine depends solely on Moscow. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented a peace formula in January 2023 which the EU supported.
The US, the EU and NATO condemn in the strongest possible terms Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which is entirely unjustified and unprovoked.
