Disinfo: George Soros is beginning to set his sights on LNR and DNR

Summary

Soros is beginning to set his sights on LNR and DNR, that is a fact and it is not good. Soros’s leftist agents are trying to ignite “Maidans” and riots in Donbas.

Soros calls for rebellion in the Donbass, destroying Russian unity.

Disproof

Conspiracy theory based on recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about George Soros.

George Soros "Open Society Foundations" aims to promote civil society, the rule of law, human rights and liberal democracy around the world by funding civil society groups. The International Renaissance Foundation, a Ukrainian NGO founded by Soros, played an important role in supporting civil society during the Euromaidan protests. The foundation ensured that legal aid was made available throughout the crisis to civic activists, protesters, and journalists; supplied victims of violence with medical care; enabled civil society solidarity and organisation; supported channels like Hromadske TV in independent, live reporting about events on the Maidan; and documented cases of torture, beatings, and abuse by the courts.

What YouTube and Google did to Tsargrad is a political repression

It turns out that YouTube and Google consider themselves entitled to act extraterritorially, that is, by spreading their laws on the territory of other states. Well, then Russians have to stop using it and kick them out from Russia.

NewsFront, Roman Ostashko, Tsargrad, almost all Donetsk residents, even a newspaper with news from Donbas were banned. Well, this is, in fact, political repression. This is war. And we need to make big far-reaching conclusions.

Disproof

A recurring pro-Kremlin narrative about Russophobia, allegedly directed at the pro-Kremlin media.

The account on Youtube of the TV channel "Tsargrad", owned by Russian businessman Konstantin Malofeev, was blocked there due to a violation of the law. Google representatives commented to RBC about it.

Russia has never interfered in the affairs of other countries

Russia has never interfered in the internal affairs of other countries and does not tolerate attempts to interfere in its private affairs. Therefore, even if Russia is faced with such accusations, they will not be based on anything, and they will be just accounted for more baseless accusations.

Disproof

A pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Russia being respectful of international law, and never interfering in other country's affairs. The claim was not counterbalanced or critically challenged in the Article.

Russia has a long record of violating other states' sovereignty and territorial integrity. Since 1991, Russia was involved in several international conflicts, including intervention in neighbouring states, such as Georgia in 2008 and Ukraine in 2014. Many international organisations condemned Russian occupation of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, see e.g. the European Parliament's declaration.

It’s DPR, LPR and Russia who are interested in a ceasefire on Donbas, not Ukraine

Who proposed these measures introduced at midnight today? In the spring, within the framework of the Minsk Agreement. DPR, LPR and Russia offered Ukraine to fix everything that came into force today. And who refused? Who is conducting sabotage actions, using military drones and so on. Who refused? It’s Ukraine. So who is to blame for the fact that people have died so far on Donbas?

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the war in Ukraine, claiming that Ukraine refuses to implement the Minsk agreements.

The claims are being made in the context of a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia/so called LNR and DPR which came into force on Monday 27 July 2020. The agreement was "the result of the effective work of the Ukrainian delegation with the support of our international partners in Berlin and Paris," the office of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a statement.
