DISINFO: Georgia bought US Javelin missiles, Ukraine received them as a gift

SUMMARY

While Georgia had to buy FGM-148 Javelin man-portable fire-and-forget anti-tank missiles from the United States, Ukraine received them as a present.

RESPONSE

The US Department of State decided to approve the sale of Javelin missiles and command launch to Ukraine on 1 March 2018. In April, delivery of the missiles to Ukraine was confirmed. Ukraine purchased 210 missiles and 37 launchers for $47 million. Georgia purchased 410 missiles, 72 launchers, 10 basic skills trainers, and 70 simulated round for $75 million.
