DISINFO: German media participated in smear Soros-led campaigns against Azerbaijan

SUMMARY

In different years, the German media took an active part in the smear campaigns against Azerbaijan organised by the Soros network.

RESPONSE

Recurring disinformation which advances pro-Kremlin approach. No evidence is presented that Soros, or Open Society Foundation, organises smear campaigns against some countries. Pro-Kremlin outlets often accuse George Soros of destabilising some countries, organising colour revolutions, destroying traditional values.

In fact, George Soros is a successful investor and famous philanthropist. He has established the Open Society Foundations in 1989. These foundations make donations to independent NGOs working for democratic governance and human rights in different countries, including the Western ones. They have financed projects on many different topics such as democratic practice, higher education, journalism and so on.
