DISINFO: Hackers of Fancy Bears revealed a Canadian conspiracy against Russian sports

SUMMARY

Hackers of Fancy Bears revealed a Canadian conspiracy against Russian sports. The Canadian athletes did not manage to succeed in the Olympics in Sochi. This is why Canadians decided to displace their main competitors, Russians. For this specific purpose they hired Richard McLaren who was supposed to get Russian athletes banned from the Olympics with the pretext of fighting for clean sports.

RESPONSE

Documents published by Fancy Bear do not provide evidence for these claims. fancybear.net/pages/canada.html, Cybersecurity firm Crowdstrike has stated with "high level confidence" that both Fancy Bear and Cozy Bear are tools of Russian intelligence agencies. It has stated with medium level confidence that GRU, Russia’s military intelligence agency, is behind Fancy Bear. www.csmonitor.com/World/Passcode/2016/0615/Meet-Fancy-Bear-and-Cozy-Bear-Russian-groups-blamed-for-DNC-hack, For background see www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/fancy-bears-who-are-hacking-group-doping-sport-football-russia-georgia-reedie-bach-a7906376.html, Further debunking by the Insider.
