DISINFO: In 2011 in Germany, 38 500 children were given to same sex families

SUMMARY

In 2011 in Germany, 38 500 children were taken away from their families against their will and handed over to same sex families.

Over the last 20 years tens of thousands of families were deprived of their children by the German state. The children are then placed in juvenile justice institutions, something like concentration camps.

RESPONSE

No evidence given. While homosexual couples can be foster families, there are no official statistics of the number of homosexual foster couples in Germany. They are estimated to 1% of foster families in big cities, says a researcher at the University of Siegen bit.ly/2ssxIlI, . In 2014, there were 41.000 registered same-sex couples in Germany, which make the numbers cited in the story quite unlikely: bit.ly/2fgMaFl, . The objective of removing children from their families is to ensure the well-being of the child. If parents protest the removal of their children, public authorities must return the child to the family or seek permission from a court: bit.ly/2sPbMUk, // There are no concentration camps in Germany.
