Disinfo: In Belarus, Poland focuses exclusively on relations with the opposition

Regarding Belarus, instead of sharing its experience of conducting a dialogue between society and the authorities, Poland will continue focusing exclusively on relations with the opposition. Despite the wishes of Warsaw, these people [opposition] have very little significance and minimal recognition in Belarus.

A recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the unfriendly position of Poland towards Belarus and the Western attempts to organise a colour revolution in Belarus.

The Polish authorities have repeatedly stated that their country is interested in having good relations with Belarus. However, in light of events since August 2020, Poland has appealed to the Belarusian authorities to respect Human Rights and stop violence against society. In other words, Poland is open to all types of cooperation with the Belarusian society – the main reasons for the dramatic worsening of bilateral relations are the violent actions and aggressive statements of Alexander Lukashenka.

The claim that the Belarusian opposition has no significance and minimal recognition within Belarusian society is not confirmed by evidence. On the contrary, throughout 2020, there had been a substantial increase in popularity of alternative political leaders in Belarus. The “Golos” initiative shows that a major part of the votes for Svetlana Tsikhanouskaya was stolen by the authorities. There is no doubt that the recent Presidential elections in Belarus were not free and the results were substantially manipulated – this position is shared by the EU, OSCE, and the USA. In other words, it is clear that in a situation of massive falsification of elections, Alexander Lukashenka is not perceived as a legitimate representative of Belarusian society.

The same article contained another disinformation message about the Vatican not intending to participate in so-called American and Polish “war games” around Belarus.

See other cases on post-election developments in Belarus: The West carries out a colour revolution in Belarus and tears away Minsk from Moscow, that the protests in Belarus are a colour revolution conducted according to a Maidan scenario and that the West wants to prepare Maidan in Belarus, and that Colour revolution in Belarus failed.

Italy lost its independence to the EU, and the latter is under US control

Italy has lost its independence, so it has no right to its own opinion. Therefore, its policy towards Russia is not the policy of Italy itself. There is no independence in Italy since there are such structures as the European Union, which cannot be called free. If we talk about the attitude towards Russia, the EU does not defend its interests, but the interests of the US.

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation portraying Europe as a vassal of the US and trying to undermine the EU and sovereignty of its member states. This narrative claims that European countries are no longer truly sovereign and the US dictates policies to the EU and its member states.

Italy is a sovereign, independent country. It is a member of the EU since its inception in 1957.

The US pushes Lithuania to buy American gas

Lithuanian’s aspiration to refuse to buy Russian gas economically is not practical. Lithuania is buying American SNG because Washington pushes it to do so. The US wants to promote its fuel in this way in the European market.

Disinformation around Lithuania's LNG terminal.

Lithuania took steps to diversify its gas sector because Russia uses sources of energy as a tool of influence on other countries. The LNG terminal in Klaipeda harbour broke the Russian gas monopoly in the country and ensures Lithuania's energy security.

NATO's true mission is to destroy Russia

It must be said that Pompeo and Trump’s statements prove NATO’s true mission around the world, which is to create and reinforce an army that works only against Russia, and seeks to destroy it.

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about NATO.

NATO is in no way directed against Russia or any other state. NATO’s objectives are set out in the 1949 Washington Treaty which forms the legal basis of the alliance. The treaty states that parties “are resolved to unite their efforts for collective defence and for the preservation of peace and security”.
