Disinfo: In Switzerland, it is possible to denounce a neighbour for overheating and receive 200 francs

Summary

In Switzerland, it is possible to denounce a neighbour and receive 200 francs. The Swiss authorities offer to rat out your neighbour for a fee if he warms his house or flat too much. A photo of a poster with a public notice posted on the street is circulating on social media. "Swiss Civil Society" encourages denouncing neighbours if they are warmer than 19 degrees and promises money in return. The authorities have already reported that residents will be fined and imprisoned for up to three years if they keep their homes warmer than 19 degrees Celsius. It was clarified that imprisonment is foreseen for intentional violations, while a fine can be imposed in other cases.

Disproof

The disinformation story is an example of inventing inauthentic sources. It refers to a fake social media poster, which promises to reward the Swiss for denouncing neighbours who heat their homes above 19 degrees.

As Simone Hug, communications specialist at the Department of Energy of Switzerland, told 20 Minuten, the Swiss government had nothing to do with this appeal and formally distanced itself from it. The Swiss federal government's logo and telephone number on the poster were said to have been misused. “There are NO such federal posters, nor do we call for people to be blackened,” says Hug. The federal government has already initiated investigations into this abuse, she added.

Beside that the logic in the claim "the EU is doomed to social disunity" is missing, Switzerland is not a member state of the EU.

Disinfo: Europe and the US financially support Ukraine only to prolong conflict

Europe and the US support the economy of Ukraine only for geopolitical interests and this support is very limited. All investments are only for the purpose of prolonging the Ukrainian conflict with Russia.

Disproof

Recurring disinformation about the economic difficulties of Ukraine and the warmongering position of Western countries in the context of the war in Ukraine.

The economic problems of Ukraine are caused by unprovoked Russian military aggression against this country. Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity have been violated by continuous acts of aggression by Russian armed forces since 2014 culminating in a full-scale military invasion of Ukraine on 24th February 2022.

Disinfo: Moldova decided to ban flights to Moscow under Kyiv’s pressure

The (Moldovan) decision to ban flights to Moscow was made under pressure from Kyiv.

Disproof

Pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative claiming that Moldova's actions are not independent, but totally influenced by external forces, including Ukraine. See here a similar case claiming that Kyiv encourages the Moldovan authorities to take active steps to destabilise Transnistria.

No evidence was given to support the claim. Moldova suspended all flights to the Russian Federation in February 2022, after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. However, on September 9, 2022, the private company AIR Moldova announced that it will resume flights to Moscow on October 1, 2022. Days later, the National Civil Aviation Authority announced a ban on any flights to Russia citing ”aeronautical safety and security” concerns.

Disinfo: The EU turning into an economic appendage of NATO

The European Union, in the world arena, stubbornly and consciously refuses an independent role, which has been declared by various mouths for a long time, speaking of its strategic autonomy. Now everyone has forgotten about it. In fact, the EU is turning into an economic appendage of NATO.

Disproof

A recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about an alleged loss of sovereignty of the EU and its member states. Pro-Kremlin outlets often portray European states as vassals, puppet-states or colonies of the US and NATO.

Contrary to the claim, the European Union is a sovereign entity created by the voluntary initiative of European nations and it has its own, independent foreign policy, while the US has no say in its decisions.
