Disinfo: Kurt Volker Acknowledges Ukraine Unable to Reintegrate Crimea and Donbas

Summary

Volker admits Kyiv unable to reintegrate Crimea and Donbas, advising Ukraine to come to terms with the loss of Donbas and Crimea,.

Disproof

Misrepresented statement. The full quote was; “There’s no way the Ukrainians could take the territory back that’s already been taken by the Russians, the Russians are just too powerful. But the cost to Russia of further advancement is already increased and will continue to increase. And if that’s the case then you have to ask yourself if you’re sitting in Moscow, what are we getting out of this? We’re getting Russian casualties, soldiers being killed fighting in Ukraine, for what? That’s why I hope they will see there is no benefit for them but the price will continue to grow. So why not exchange this for something positive, such as lifting sanctions? This will be something positive on the Russian agenda with the rest of the international community.” Further debunking by Stopfake.

OSCE Walk Out on Donbas Talks Because of Ukrainian Threats

The OSCE coordinator left the Trilateral Contact Group peace talks on Ukrainian Donbas held in Minsk because of Ukrainian threats and insults.

Disproof

No evidence given. The press statement issued by the OSCE after the May 16 talks makes absolutely no mention of any walkout by any OSCE personnel. The statement reasserts the OSCE’s commitment to continued talks aimed at easing the hardships of civilians living close to the demarcation line and in the occupied territories.

Furthermore, responding to StopFake’s inquiry about Nikonorova’s claims, Ukraine’s representative at the Minsk talks, and former Ukrainian ambassador to the US Oleksander Motsyk dismissed Nikonorova’s claims as completely false. “The OSCE moderator left the talks when they were finished, this claim is a complete fake” Motsyk, who was present at the negotiations, said.

Kurt Volker and Poroshenko discuss intensification of War

Kurt Volker met with Poroshenko on May 16. Volker stated that Russia will never stop attacking Ukraine and the only way of defense is to make this proccess very expensive to Russians who would then replace the Russian regime. According to Volker, this process can be sped up.

Disproof

Recurring Russian disinformation about the US trying to intensify the conflict in Eastern Ukraine as well as aiming to have a regime change in Russia.

No evidence supporting these declaration of Volker. According to other sources the parties discussed the issues of reforms, the release of hostages and the peacekeeping mission in the Donbas and the implementation of the Minsk agreement: www.unian.info/politics/2362322-poroshenko-volker-meet-to-discuss-joint-strategy-to-restore-ukraines-sovereignty.html,

The Joint Investigation Team has concluded that flight MH17 was shot down on 17 July 2014 by a missile of the 9M38 series, launched by a BUK-TELAR, from farmland in the vicinity of Pervomaiskiy (or: Pervomaiskyi). At that time, the area was controlled by pro-Russian fighters. The BUK-TELAR was brought in from the territory of the Russian Federation and subsequently, after having shot down flight MH-17, was taken back to the Russian Federationhttps://www.om.nl/onderwerpen/mh17-crash/@96068/jit-flight-mh17-shot/
