Putin is demonised because he fights against liberal globalism and seeks to create a multipolar world. He represents a concrete, valid, and solid alternative to liberal globalism. Aleksandr Dugin is demonised because his mission is to fight the ideological and philosophical aspects of liberalism. Putin defends Russia’s sovereignty and identity against the power of the globalists. This is why liberals fear Putin and demonise him.
Liberalism kills. Liberalism is a system that kills the people, it perverts all social, economic and cultural values. Liberalism is active nihilism, it is extremely negative because the individual does not exist, it is an abstraction, the individual is an entity who has been radically severed from his relations with other human beings, with the community and with society. Therefore, the individual in a liberal society is like a dead person. Individualism is an invitation to kill humans as social, cultural and historical beings with their own identity and roots. Russia has decided not to allow liberalism to enter Russian society because liberalism is like the coronavirus, it kills. It is up to the West to decide whether it will accept or reject liberalism.
No evidence is provided to support the video’s claims. The video repeats the broad pro-Kremlin narrative that seeks to discredit liberalism by claiming that the latter has generated the West’s alleged moral decadence, materialism, perverted values and hostility to traditional values and religion. According to this narrative, Russia – in contrast with the liberal West - upholds traditional social, cultural and spiritual values.
One recent version of this narrative is that liberalism is a kind of “virus” that weakens and destroys societies, and that liberalism itself has facilitated the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic.
The video’s depiction of liberalism as “nihilistic” and destructive of higher values is false. Liberalism is a political and moral philosophy based on the values of liberty, consent of the governed, individual rights (including civil rights and human rights), and equality before the law. The fundamental values of the West’s – and especially Europe’s - liberal-democratic societies include the rule of law, human rights, freedom of conscience and expression, rationalism, self-criticism, the disinterested search for truth, the separation of church and state.
