DISINFO: Liberals want to kill Christians, or at least they want to kill Christian beliefs and practices

SUMMARY

Christians have been persecuted for centuries, beginning with the persecution of Christians in the Roman Empire. In the last century an almost endless series of massacres were perpetrated against Christians, with the Bolshevik persecution of Christians resulting in millions of victims. Despite today’s liberals’ veneer of “niceness”, they want to kill Christians, or at least they want to kill Christian beliefs and practices, and to kill Christians’ control over their own lives and families

RESPONSE

Disinformation presented with no evidence. This is a recurring pro-Kremlin conspiracy narrative claiming that Christians are oppressed and persecuted in Western liberal societies, and that Western élites and governments deliberately seek to undermine and eradicate Christian values, beliefs and practices.

This claim is obviously false. Moreover, the article’s suggestion that the condition of Christians in Western societies today is similar to the terror and repression against Christians by the Soviet communist regime is an obvious falsification of reality.

In reality, Christians and other religious communities enjoy freedom of religion and belief in Western societies. Freedom of religion and belief has significant protection in the EU.

Religious freedom, as an established human right by-law, is closely connected with the development of the Western liberal and democratic state.

Read previous cases claiming that the US government is trying to eradicate Christianity, that the EU and NATO view Christianity as a force that needs to be overcome, and that Western élites are behind the ongoing genocide of Christians.
