Lithuania is a democratic country, member of the European Union. Freedom House evaluates the country as “free” with a high score of democracy (90 points from 100).
Recent elections were held in Lithuania in 2020. The winner was the Homeland Union - Lithuanian Christian Democrats (conservators). Regardless, the results of elections did not allow conservators to form the government on their own. They signed the coalition agreement with the Liberal Movement and the Freedom Party.
Claim about the “personality cult” of Vytautas Landsbergis is a speculative one. Vytautas Landsbergis (born in 1932) is a well-known Lithuanian politician. He was head of Seimas in 1990-1992 and the first de facto Lithuania leader after the restoration of state independence on March 11, 1990 (more about V. Landsbergis see here). He is no longer active in the political life of Lithuania.
