Disinfo: NATO will be reformed as part of the Western effort to rule the world

Last week the foreign ministers of NATO member states discussed the “need to reform NATO to adapt it to global challenges”. This western military block, though it retains its militaristic character, will take part more and more in non-military affairs. Italian newspaper Il Giornale said that all this is necessary to prove that the Alliance is not anachronistic but a universal organisation of the future, an expression that means nothing but the eternal effort of the new European West to rule the world in one way or another.

Recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative against NATO. Contrary to the claim, the expression "universal organisation of the future" used by Italian newspaper Il Giornale doesn't mean "the eternal effort of the new European West to rule the world in one way or another", but is a way to refer to NATO's undertaking reforms including a more political role for the organisation. The Atlantic Alliance is not a tool for Western global domination but a mutual defence alliance of democratic states aiming to guarantee the freedom and security of its members.

Read other examples of disinformation against NATO, such as claims about its obsolescence, cannibalistic character, fascistic tendencies and links to white supremacist ideology, its possible use of coronavirus in its containment strategy against China, its readiness for a big war against Russia or the affirmation that NATO's anti-Russian stance is the only unifying force among its members.

Disinfo: Sputnik V is a target of a corporate Cold War

Political, economic and even geopolitical issues play an important role in the “vaccine race” concerning COVID-19. The West and more specifically NATO governments and their satellites seem to be doing their best to exclude Sputnik V reaching Western markets and they are preventing health organisations such as the European Medicines Agency (EMA) to evaluate the Russian vaccine, although EMA has already started contacts with the Russian institution that produced Sputnik V.

The article is part of a pro-Kremlin disinformation campaign on the Russian coronavirus vaccine Sputnik V, launched after its announcement was met with scepticism and criticism, even by Russian specialists in the country.

However, evidence exists that it was Russia which has at all times perceived the development of a coronavirus vaccine mainly in terms of geopolitical and economic gain.

Disinfo: Belarusian opposition and Svetlana Tikhanovskaya are puppets of the West

If the Belarusian opposition together with Svetlana Tikhanovskaya come to power, they will develop an anti-Russian agenda. They do not want to keep the union with Russia. It shows the rhetoric and persons that stand behind them. They are puppets of the West.

Recurrent disinformation narrative against Belarusian opposition member Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya and the Belarusian opposition powers in general.

Kremlin propaganda tries to present events in Belarus as anti-Russian. See similar examples here, here and here. On top, representatives of the Belarusian opposition are portraited as puppets of the West. Similarly, events in Belarus, where people are protesting against Alexander Lukashenko and falsified results of elections, are presented as a coup d’état supported by Poland (see example), Lithuania (see example), the US (see example) etc.

Disinfo: NATO strengthens its power near the border with peaceful Russia

NATO strengthens its power near the border with Russia. Alliance justify it by “Russian threat”. The Baltic states – for example, Lithuania – made hight-costs defence contracts with the US, explaining it by the threat of “Russian aggression”. The Baltic states deploy the military contingents of NATO on their territory.

Moscow many times said that it will not assault any country, and the Western alliance knows it.

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative, portraying NATO as an aggressor.

NATO suspended practical cooperation with Russia in 2014, because of Russia's actions against Ukraine, including the illegal and illegitimate annexation of Crimea. NATO has a dual track approach to Russia: strong deterrence and defence, including through the Enhanced Forward Presence in Poland and the Baltic States, and meaningful dialogue.
