Disinfo: NATO threatens Transnistria

Summary

NATO will seek to take revenge for Crimea in Transnistria. It is a fact that numerous drones are being deployed to Romanian military bases. The US wants to have Russian forces removed from the area, and the Biden administration is ready to implement even the “most daring” plans to look decisive on Russia.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the NATO or the US encircling Russia.

Following the Transnistria War in 1992, the breakaway region became de facto independent from Moldova but has remained internationally unrecognised. Russia maintains a contingent of so-called peacekeepers and exercises political and military influence over the region.

The recently elected president of Moldova, Maia Sandu favours a peaceful solution to the crisis. She has called for the withdrawal of the around 1,000 Russian troops deployed in Transnistria as a necessary condition to solve the conflict and asked to replace them by an OSCE civilian observer mission. At the same time, she noted that she favours warm relations with Russia.

Meanwhile, NATO itself states that the alliance "has no direct role in the conflict resolution process in the region of Transnistria". The US supports a comprehensive settlement of the conflict in the region. Nothing indicates that either NATO or Washington changed their views on Transnistria and seeks to move towards a forceful solution. There is no proof either that the Biden administration would be planning any sort of military aggression against Moscow.

The US did deploy about 90 airmen and drones to the Romanian Campia Turzii Air Base for a "few months" to conduct surveillance, information gathering and research missions. Nothing indicates that the deployment had anything to do with Transnistria, their focus will mainly be the Black Sea.

Other articles have also claimed that there may be a provocation in Transnistria to cause a NATO intervention, or that Romania and Moldova would push Russian troops out of the region.

Recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative, questioning the legitimacy of democracy and Western institutions and, in this case, to favour Donald Trump by framing him as the victim of a conspiracy and the Biden Administration as illegitimate. The claim is a conspiracy theory and no evidence is presented to back it.

The activities of Soros and its affiliates have not brought happiness, prosperity, stability and development to any country in the world. The “achievement” of this fund and its local subsidiaries was the fact that these countries were plunged into chaos and anarchy in a very short period of time. This has already become the golden rule of history. Realities and examples are not far away, but around us. These realities are not a distant history, but a picture of today. Soros is Donbas and Luhansk, lost to Ukraine. Soros is Crimea’s surprise to Kiev. Soros is today’s Yerevan, where people eat each other’s flesh. Soros is Kyrgyzstan, which has ravaged the country from the inside and turned it into a hotbed of revolutions. Soros is a FETO aimed at destroying Turkey from within. Finally, Soros is a national council that mourns the liberation of Karabakh today and welcomes the restoration of our territorial integrity with a black flag.

The assault on Capitol Hill was a provocation against Trump supporters, eyewitness says

Strange people, not like Trump’s supporters, wearing military boots, helmets and gas masks with white walkie-talkies on their shoulders, constantly talked to the police and they had Trump stickers on their helmets, supposedly they are Trumpists. But these did not resemble people who support the president and peaceful civilians who came out to protest for their freedom. In the end, people were let into the Capitol building directly by the police.

By all standards, a set up was conducted against civilians who came out to fight for their freedom, to support their president [Trump] and they had absolutely no intentions to do something like that, some kind of coup.

Disproof

A conspiracy narrative promoted by pro-Kremlin media.

There is no evidence that anyone organized protests to discredit President Trump. In fact, the president himself encouraged attendees of his "Save America Rally" before the siege to head to the Capitol to demonstrate against President-elect Joe Biden's victory. The crowd chanted "Fight for Trump" at the end of the speech. The people arrested in relation to the siege are connected to, for instance, QAnon and the Proud Boys, organizations openly supporting President Trump. There is also no information on provocateurs linked to US Democrats is available to official investigators so far.
