DISINFO: NATO will be using Ukrainians in military conflicts around the world

Ukrainians are trained to replace the representatives of the “more civilised” Western countries in hot spots around the world, as members of the “multinational military units”, and even in private military companies. NATO plans clearly demonstrate their interest in engaging Ukrainian troops in conflicts in the interests of the United States and NATO around the world.

No evidence given. Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative challenging Ukrainian statehood and its relations with NATO. The claim first appeared on the TV channel Zvezda which is financed by the Russian Army. The claim was made by a representative of the so-called "LNR". The source claimed that there are documents that prove his statements, however, no such documents were presented. At the moment Ukraine contributes to eight peacekeeping operations under the auspices of the United Nations and NATO. The law states that the Ukrainian military units may take part in international military operations in other countries only with the approval of the Parliament of Ukraine. The law on the procedure of sending units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to other countries states that the Ukrainian military may be taking part in operations abroad only on the basis of a ratified international treaty and a decree issued by the President and approved by the Parliament. Ukraine is one of the strategic partners of NATO. The Alliance respects Ukrainian sovereignty and independence and works closely with the Ukrainian authorities in particular in the framework of NATO-Ukraine commission, Joint working group on defence reform, and other ongoing programs. In late October 2019, the meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission was held in Kyiv. The parties discussed the security situation in and around Ukraine, the reform process within the country, as well as progress in the NATO-Ukraine partnership. NATO Secretary-General underlined NATO's continuing support to Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders.
