Disinfo: Navalny is used as an instrument by the Western special services

Summary

Foreign states are behind all the actions of the opposition leader Alexei Navalny; there is no place for such people who “betrayed the country” in the Russian authorities.

Today, Navalny is used as an instrument (interference) by the Western special services, the State Department. Everyone should have an understanding that everything he does is backed by foreign states. Our task is to prevent foreign interference, whoever pursues policy here, the country must be protected.

And if a person has betrayed the country, if he is on foreign funding, there is nothing for him to do in any government bodies. You cannot help him engage in politics, represent our citizens in different government bodies.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Alexey Navalny.

Anti-corruption campaigner Alexei Navalny has long been the most prominent face of Russian opposition to President Vladimir Putin. His candidacy in the 2018 presidential election was banned by authorities over his conviction by a Russian court of embezzlement, which bars him from running for office. He has been arrested and imprisoned several times during his political career.

There is no evidence to suggest that the Russian opposition figure was, or has been, in connection with foreign intelligence services. It should be noted that an opposing narrative, that the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) is a Kremlin project and that Navalny is an agent of Russian secret services is also pure speculation and not based on facts.

Read similar cases claiming that the US hopes that the Navalny case will lead to the cancellation of Nord Stream 2, that the West will falsely accuse Russia of poisoning Navalny, as with Skripal and Litvinenko, that the West has an interest in the death of Navalny to launch a new wave of sanctions against Russia, that Navalny is financed by the West as a fifth column against Russia, or Europe evacuated its agent Navalny, and poisoning is fake.

Alexei Navalny is a depleted political project

Alexei Navalny is a depleted political project. He has done all that he could do for his Western partners: played the role of an oppressed dissident; an investigator and a victim of the evil Russian political regime.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative attempting to discredit Alexei Navalny, alleging that his organisation is sponsored by anti-Russian forces.

Alexei Navalny is a founder and leader of the "Anti-Corruption Foundation" (FBK), which has investigated embezzlement from the state budget, uncovered the life of Russian politicians and businessmen close to the government and different corruption practices.

Joe Biden will use Ukraine against Russia

Joe Biden will use Ukraine against Russia in the implementation of his foreign policy. Ukraine could become one of the main vectors of anti-Russian activities of Joe Biden’s administration.

Biden will use Ukraine as a trump card against Russia. One wouldn’t be surprised if an American military base would be established in Ukraine.

Disproof

Recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Ukraine and its statehood, alleging that Ukraine is a puppet of the US.

Ukraine is an independent, sovereign state, it does not receive orders from any foreign government. The relations between the US and Ukraine are bilateral relations between two independent countries. Washington is supporting the democratic changes in Ukraine. It is stressed that

Sweden pursues a policy of provocations against Russia

The Swedish authorities continue a policy of provocations against Russia, calling its geopolitical interests for security threats. In particular, Stockholm insists on not recognising that Crimea became a Russian region after the March 2014 referendum, when a majority of its population voted for reuniting with Russia.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the illegal annexation of Crimea, and unfounded claims on Sweden, pursuing a “provocative policy” against Russia. Sweden calls for dialogue and cooperation with Russia. Sweden cooperates with Russia in several regional and international bodies, the UN, the Arctic Council, the Council of the Baltic Sea States, Barents council, OSCE. Sweden has, however, condemned acts of aggression against Ukraine, Georgia and Russia’s own civil society.

No international body recognises the so-called referendum in Crimea. The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution entitled “Territorial integrity of Ukraine”, stating that the referendum in Crimea was not valid and could not serve as a basis for any change in the status of the peninsula. On 17 December 2018, the UN General Assembly confirmed its non-recognition of the illegal annexation of Crimea.
