Disinfo: Navalny poisoning is connected with the US opposition to the Nord Stream 2

Summary

What is very clear is that if we rely on the facts, the organization which allegedly poisoned Alexei Navalny was really clumsy and amateur because the agent Novichok can kill tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands of people. And they are not able to get rid of a former agent in England, Skripal, or an opponent in Russia, Navalny. It is still extraordinary!

The Russian doctors saved Navalny’s life and allowed his transfer to Berlin. This is not a potential culprit behaviour. It is rather the normal behaviour of a normal country which finds itself in front of a situation which was absolutely not foreseen. Maybe there are groups in Russia who want Navalny dead. We know that Navalny is not very popular. But the accusations made go directly to the Kremlin. The Kremlin-guided poisoning thesis doesn’t make sense.

On the other hand, it is very clear, like many other instances, that this comes at an important moment in the relations between the Western states and Russia. What is at stake is the end of the construction of the Nord-Stream 2 gas pipeline disputed by the United States. There is a concomitance which is significant.

Disproof

Conspiracy theory. Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Alexei Navalny's and Sergei and Yulia Skripal's poisoning.

There are no grounds for connecting the cause of Navalny's poisoning with the construction of Nord Stream 2. The analysis that assassination with special poisons happen each time there are tensions between the West and Russia, and therefore is a western special operation to tarnish the reputation of Russia, is pure speculation and conspiracy theory.

A prominent Russian opposition figure, Alexey Navalny fell ill during an internal flight in Russia and the plane had to make an emergency landing in Omsk, where doctors said he was in a coma and they were trying to save his life. Since then he has been transferred to Berlin and is receiving treatment at Berlin's Charite Hospital. The German federal government said that toxicological tests provided "unequivocal evidence of a chemical nerve agent of the Novichok group" in the blood samples of Alexei Navalny.

The European Union condemned the poisoning of Alexei Navalny in the strongest possible terms.

Read similar disinformation messages alleging that the West has an interest in the death of Navalny to launch a new wave of sanctions against Russia, that only traces of alcohol and caffeine were found in Navalny's blood, that the West will falsely accuse Russia of poisoning Navalny, as with Skripal and Litvinenko or that US used Navalny case to block Russian vaccine against COVID-19.

The attack on Navalny is a special operation against Nord Stream 2

The attack on Navalny is a well-planned operation aimed at preventing the completion of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. The Russian leadership has no reason to hound Navalny. He has such a low rating in Russia, which makes him an ideal opposition leader who cannot threaten the regime in any way.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel is under strong pressure from the United States, and Washington itself is trying to prevent the strengthening of ties between Russia and Germany. The ongoing special operation is directed against Russia and Europe.

Disproof

Recurrent disinformation narrative by the pro-Kremlin media denying any wrongdoing by Russia.

Alexey Navalny is an anti-corruption activist. In 2012, Navalny was included by Time magazine in the list of the 100 most influential people in the world. In 2017 and 2019 he was elected the politician of the year according to Vedomosti. Since the beginning of the 2010s, he has been serving as an accused, defendant and witness in a number of criminal, administrative, civil and arbitration cases, which Navalny himself and his supporters consider politically motivated. The most resonant of them are the "Case of Kirovles" and "Case of Yves Rocher". In both cases, the European Court of Human Rights ruled that Navalny's rights were violated by Russian authorities. In total, Navalny won 6 complaints against the Russian authorities in the ECHR for a total of 225 thousand euros.

After the coup in Kiev in 2014, Crimea reunited with Russia following a referendum

After the Kiev coup in February 2014, the authorities in Crimea and Sevastopol decided to hold a referendum on reunification with Russia. In the vote, which took place on March 16 of the same year, more than 80 percent of those eligible to vote took part. For reunification with the Russian Federation, 96.7 and 95.6% of the inhabitants of Crimea and Sevastopol voted, respectively.

On March 18, the President of Russia signed an agreement on the acceptance of the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol into the Russian Federation, and on March 21, the document was ratified by the Federal Assembly. Despite the convincing results of the referendum, Kiev refused to recognize Crimea as part of Russia.

Disproof

Recurrent narrative about the illegal annexation of Crimea.

The Euromaidan was not a coup but a nationwide popular protest against the government's sudden announcement that it would not sign the EU Association Agreement. See the full debunk here.

Coronavirus: a global scam designed by the WHO

Coronavirus was a scam to fool the whole world, a worldwide scam.

The WHO has already deceived the world several times, spreading pandemic alarms that have proved unfounded, but in the meantime, states have bought vaccines produced by the drug industries, vaccines that were then left unused.

Disproof

Conspiracy theory, with no evidence provided to support any of the claims. This is part of the pro-Kremlin disinformation campaign about the coronavirus and attempts to push false health information, in this case promoting anti-vaccine messaging, which is also a recurring element of pro-Kremlin disinformation, which aims at sowing distrust in the european authorities and the health-care system.
