Disinfo: News about Wagner in Libya distort Russian policy

The news (which talk about the presence of private military “Wagner” personals in Libya and its support for the forces of Field Marshal Khalifa Hifter) is suspicious and was built on the basis of false information … and aims to distort Russian policy towards the Libyan path.

A recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the Kremlin-linked mercenary group Wagner presence in Libya, trying to portray information as anti-Russian.

The Wagner Group is a private army with ties to the Kremlin and has been operating in Libya since October 2018, according to a report compiled by independent monitors for the UN's Libya sanctions committee. It is a mercenary outfit engaged in conflicts on the Kremlin’s behalf from Ukraine to Syria to the Central African Republic.

Bloomberg has reported that more than 100 Wagner contractors arrived in Libya in early September to assist General Khalifa Haftar’s offensive against the GNA in Tripoli that began in April.

A recent report by Reuters sheds light on the latest developments in Libya quoting a source saying that “Russians had now been flown out of western Libya to Jufra, a remote central district and LNA stronghold, in 3 military planes”.

For more information on the Wagner group, see our report on a Russian attempt to hide evidence of its existence and activities.

US Democrats organised riots in US cities based on the Ukrainian scenario

Only hopeless idiots have not yet understood that the Democrats are behind these [protests].

Who is able to coordinate the actions of various political and social movements on such a scale, if not the one who finances most of them, and who regularly works with them during the elections, urging them to support Democratic candidates? Now its electorate is protesting and rampaging on the streets of American cities; you are unlikely to find Republican supporters among them. And when this crowd yells about the “anti-racist revolution” it means the anti-Republican one.

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the US racial justice protests.

The widespread protests against racial injustice and police brutality broke out organically in the US after the death of George Floyd in police custody in Minneapolis on 25 May 2020. The protests followed several high-profile incidents involving African Americans and the police, invoking debates about racism and policy brutality in the US. There is no evidence to support the conspiracy theory that the protests are pre-arranged or organised by the Democratic Party.

The MH17 case is politically motivated

The results of the investigation of the Almaz-Antey firm are not taken into account by MH17 investigators. The firm showed in 2015 that 9M38M1 rockets cause damage to airplanes on impact that were not present on the Malaysian Boeing that was shot down over Eastern Ukraine.

Recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative on the downing of flight MH17 over Ukraine, aiming to discredit the criminal trial and the Joint Investigation Team (JIT). The public hearing on the incident started on 9 March 2020 in the Netherlands.

Both claims by Buk manufacturer Almaz-Antey were debunked back in 2015 by Bellingcat. The article fails to mention that the firm is the manufacturer of the Buk air defence system that downed MH17, according to the Joint Investigation Team (JIT).

Americans will bomb Siberia according to a Ukrainian plan

Ukraine has developed a plan for the bombing of Siberia and the Arctic. The Americans will fulfil this plan. The Ukrainian consulting agency Defense Express detailed the entire bombing plan for the Yankees. The Americans are left to only fulfil this order from Kyiv analysts.

This is a baseless conspiracy theory and another example of the narrative about the militant West.

The news item posted on the Defense Express information site does not correspond in any way to a "plan for bombing Siberia and the Arctic." The article is dedicated to the news that NATO combat aircraft on 3 June performed training flights in international airspace over the Arctic Ocean and the Laptev Sea. US strategic bombers B-52H under cover of the Norwegian F-35 and F-16 flew over the Arctic near the border with Russia. The publication describes the technical characteristics of combat aircraft and the launch range of cruise missiles AGM-158B JASSM-ER and AGM-86C CALCM. For illustrative purposes, it is specified that the range of these missiles is sufficient to attack the main strategic targets of Russia in the Arctic and part of Siberia. Ukrainian analysts did not draw up any “plans for the bombing of Russia.”
