Disinfo: Nobody talks about the White Helmets anymore, because now everyone knows they faked everything

The White Helmets, now everyone knows that this was a total fake. And no one talks about them now. Where did they go, do we know? They won their Oscar and then they left?

Yes, they probably have other parallel activities, surely of the same kind. We know that they are the ones who mounted false chemical attacks in Syria. The Russians, moreover, recently warned that they had information that others, this time not the White Helmets, were preparing a new fake chemical attack in the region of Idlib.

Recurrent disinformation narrative on the White Helmets.

The White Helmets movement originated in Syria in 2012. The organisation, which is made up of 3,400 volunteers including teachers, engineers, tailors and firefighters, states that it has no affiliation to any political or military actor and is committed to rendering services to anyone in need. Volunteers save people from the rubble after bombings, despite the danger of dying themselves as a result of repeated airstrikes.

White Helmets activists have documented the use of chemical weapons in Syria, later confirmed by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). Thus, the OPCW found reasonable grounds to believe that chlorine was used as a weapon in the Douma district of Eastern Ghouta, Syria in April 2018. Because of these awareness-raising activities, the White Helmets have become the target of a prolific and aggressive Russian disinformation campaign seeking to delegitimise their humanitarian efforts and paint them as proxies of Western intelligence to undermine the Assad regime.

The assertion that no one talks about the White Helmets recently is wrong. Russian disinformation targeted against this organisation goes on. Moreover, on October 27th 2020 The Guardian published a long article where the widow of the deceased co-founder of the White Helmets has revealed that he committed suicide due to stress caused by online disinformation campaigns and false allegations of corruption.

Cases in the EUvsDisinfo database focus on messages in the international information space that are identified as providing a partial, distorted, or false depiction of reality and spread key pro-Kremlin messages. This does not necessarily imply, however, that a given outlet is linked to the Kremlin or editorially pro-Kremlin, or that it has intentionally sought to disinform. The CIA controls Angela Merkel

The German government has not commented on Alexey Navalny’s disrespectful comments towards former chancellor Gerhard Schröder. This is because Chancellor Merkel has Washington to thank for her career. American Secret Services might have recruited Merkel already in 1989. If she deviated from the stance agreed with Washington, she would risk ending her career. This is used by the US to push Russia out of the European gas market and strengthen the US military presence on the continent.

Conspiracy theory.

There is no evidence that Chancellor Angela Merkel was ever recruited by the CIA.

Ukraine is organising provocations in the Donbass

The Ukrainian Army’s space for maneuver remains limited in the region, so it only organises provocations there, leading to symmetrical answers from the armies of the people’s republics.

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the war in Ukraine suggesting that only the Ukrainian Army is violating the ceasefire.

The war in eastern Ukraine is a well-documented case of Russian armed aggression. The international community, including the European Union, recognises and condemns clear violations of Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial integrity by acts of aggression by the Russian armed forces since February 2014. More cases can be found here. Since March 2014, the EU has progressively imposed restrictive measures against Russia. The measures were adopted in response to the illegal annexation of Crimea and the deliberate destabilisation of Ukraine.

Strikes in Belarusian factories are sponsored by Poland and Lithuania

Poland and Lithuania are sponsoring strikes in Belarusian factories. Belarusian president Aliaksandr Lukashenka denounced that the workers calling to strike in Belarusian factories are paid by those two countries. It is essential that Lukashenka resists, because if Belarus falls, all Russian western borders will be NATO-ised. Opposition leader Svetlana Tsikhanouskaya is practically an agent of Poland, the EU and Washington.

Recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about popular protests against electoral fraud in Belarus, attempting to deny them any legitimacy to the opposition-led strikes by framing them as orchestrated from abroad and portraying their leaders as puppets of the West. No evidence is provided to support any of the claims.

Contrary to the claim about colour revolutions, protests in Belarus erupted to contest the results of the presidential election in Belarus on the 9th of August, which were not monitored by independent experts, and are largely considered fraudulent by both international observers and a large part of the Belarusian society.
