Disinfo: OPCW confirms that Syria is free of chemical weapons

Summary

[Syria] has not used chemical weapons and no longer even possesses them, and is committed to cooperating with the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) to settle the outstanding issues in order to allow the file to be closed.

.. This cooperation resulted in the disposal of all of Syria’s stockpile and the destruction of related production facilities. This matter was confirmed by the Head of the OPCW, Sigrid Kaag, in June 2014, as confirmed by the latest 85th monthly report by the Director-General published on 10/26/2020.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative regarding chemical weapons that Syria possess.

The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) weapons inspectors could only authenticate that the declared chemical weapons had been destroyed in 2014, even though there were suspicions in the West that Syria had hidden as much as 10% of its stockpile.

In the OPCW 85th report mentioned in the claim, it clearly points out that Damascus “has yet to provide sufficient technical information or explanations [with regard to the finding of a Schedule 2.B.04 chemical] that would enable the Secretariat to close this issue”.

Furthermore, the OPCW’s Fact-Finding Mission confirmed that people in Khan Shaykhun were exposed to sarin, a chemical weapon, on 4 April 2017. The JIM found Syria’s Government responsible for the attack.

And in September 2017, the UN Commission of Inquiry on Syria summarised 33 separate incidents where it had found the use of chemical weapons.

On April 10 2018, Russia vetoed a US-drafted UN Security Council resolution that would have created a new inquiry to ascertain responsibility for chemical weapons attacks in Syria. In June, the OPCW members granted it the power to assign blame for chemical attacks.

The United Nations Human Rights Council blamed the Syrian government forces for the attack.

Biden is a war criminal who is behind Ukrainian nationalist regime

Biden is one of the founders of the Ukrainian nationalist regime. He was in charge of the American intelligence services that helped to carry out a coup in Ukraine and to use neo-Nazis for a campaign of terror against all dissenters in 2014. Biden is undoubtedly a war criminal. He must be punished for numerous murders in Ukraine, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and the overthrow of the legitimate government in Ukraine.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative on Ukraine and its relations with the United States, consistent with the pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives framing popular protests as Western-led colour revolutions.

Ukraine is a sovereign, democratic state. The US, its political leaders, including Joe Biden, the Democratic or the Republican parties, do not control Ukraine. The US, and Joe Biden in particular, did not control the protests in Ukraine in 2013-2014. The demonstrations were a result of the Ukrainian people's frustration with former President Yanukovych's last-minute U-turn when, after seven years of negotiation, he refused to sign the EU–Ukraine Association Agreement and halted progress towards Ukraine's closer relationship with the EU.

Biden’s presidency will lead to new war in Ukraine

If Biden wins, then you can forget about possible bargaining concerning Ukraine altogether; he will continue the policy of unlimited pressure, which in the end may even lead to a new war.

Disproof

Conspiracy theory, recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation on Ukraine.

There is no evidence to suggest that there will be another war in Ukraine when Joseph Biden takes over as the next President of the United States.

Russian electoral system is one of the most advanced worldwide

There are clear indications of the deterioration of democracy that can be seen in the US elections compared to the progressive Russian democracy.

The Russian electoral system today is one of the most advanced in the world, including in terms of legislation.

It doesn’t even occur to Russia to allow something similar to what is happening now in the American elections (battle of fakes, dirty techniques, mutual insults, accusations, and slanders).

Disproof

A pro-Kremlin narrative about Russian superiority, in this case, about the superiority of Russia's electoral system.

Russia has been widely accused of having little political plurality. One of the most valuable weapons in the Kremlin's arsenal is its power to control who can run - and indirectly guiding their campaign. Moscow “has tried to create the semblance of competition”, says The Times, allowing other candidates to take part, whilst the more vocal anti-Putin voices are quickly pushed out of the race.
