Disinfo: Oxford vaccine does not work, Russian is more efficent

Summary

Armenia wants to buy a British vaccine against coronavirus, from which several people have already died, it is expensive, besides, the situation in England is terrible now, practically that vaccine does not work. They buy English so as not to buy Russian, while Russian is more efficient, it works, the world has accepted it. Why is this being done? They do not bring vaccines here to save people from the coronavirus but to make money and put people in a worse situation.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation on coronavirus aiming to promote the Russian Sputnik V vaccine and discredit Western vaccines, particularly Oxford University vaccine Astra Zeneca.

The claim that Astra Zeneca does not work is not true. The primary analysis of the Phase III clinical trials from the UK, Brazil and South Africa, published as a preprint in The Lancet confirmed COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca is safe and effective at preventing COVID-19, with no severe cases and no hospitalisations, more than 22 days after the first dose. Results demonstrated vaccine efficacy of 76% (CI: 59% to 86%) after a first dose, with protection maintained to the second dose.

The claim, that Armenia is buying Astra Zeneca to make money out of it is false. Armenia is collaborating with the COVAX, the global initiative to ensure rapid and equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines for all countries, regardless of income level. The latest offer from the COVAX was the purchase of AstraZeneca, which should be used to vaccinate 3% of the population.

"The Republican Advisory Expert Commission on Immunoprophylaxis has decided to approve this proposal, taking into account the price of the vaccine ($ 4 per dose) and delivery time (March 2021)," the Ministry of Health said. At the same time, the negotiations with international partners and companies supplying vaccines from other manufacturers, including the Russian Sputnik V, are on-going.

Western spy networks target Russian teens to involve them in protests

The pro-Western opposition makes significant efforts to get them involved in protests. In general, the stake is made specifically on teenagers, with apparently full activation of the Western spy network in Russia. The scripts for these protests are written by people who are familiar with the peculiarities of adolescent psychology. They take into account the long period of quarantine, the lack of full-fledged communication, their hunger for action, the opportunity to throw out the energy accumulated over several months.

Disproof

Recurrent conspiracy narrative on "colour revolutions". The pro-Kremlin ecosystem excludes popular discontent as a genuine reaction to grievances and view them exclusively as instruments of powerful outside forces. “A colour revolution, instigated by the Anglo-Saxons/America/the West” is the reaction of pro-Kremlin media whenever crowds gather in the streets to protest against corruption, government abuse and curbing of civil rights.

Alexey Navalny is a prominent Russian opposition leader, head of the Anti-Corruption Foundation FBK, who was brutally poisoned by the nerve agent Novichok in Omsk, Siberia. Pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about this poisoning are mutually exclusive: "Navalny was not poisoned", "he could have caused the coma himself", "his friend poisoned him", "he might had been injected with Novichok in Germany", "Khodorkovsky is the suspect number one in attack on Navalny" and others.

Boycotting Damascus conference on refugees could lead to a new wave of international terrorism

The United States not only ignored the refugee conference held in Damascus at the initiative of Russia but also called on other countries to boycott it. This could contribute, in one way or another, to a new wave of international terrorism.

Disproof

A recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative claiming the West has been worsening the humanitarian situation in Syria.

No official data or evidence backs the claim that the US lack of participation in the conference is in any way linked to the rise of global terrorism.

The MH17 trial is faltering

The MH-17 trial is a show trial designed to discredit Russia. The trial is faltering, it is consistently being hit with new failures. This is a problem for them because certain conspiracies could be revealed, such as the participation of Western politicians in the downing of the jet, such as Barack Obama and Mark Rutte. The goal of the conspiracy was giving a casus belli to NATO to intervene in the Donbas.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation about the MH17 trial, depicting it as a scheme to cover up Western responsibility for it.

The MH17 trial in the Hague is not faltering or being hit with new challenges, it is proceeding as planned. The hearing on the merits of the criminal trial is set for June 2021. The pretrial stage was concluded on 25 November 2020.
