Disinfo: The only “growth” in Ukraine is the growth of the government debt

The only “growth” in Ukraine (since 1991-editor) is the growth of the government debt.

Recurring pro-Kremling disinformation narrative portraying the economic situation of Ukraine as disastruous and blaming various international actors - EU, IMF - never Russia, for this state of affairs. Russian TV-host Olga Skabeeva argues in this talk show that Ukraine has nothing to celebrate on it’s Day of Independence, because the only growth in Ukraine since 1991 is the growth of government debt. A comparison table with numbers is presented on the screen. However, some numbers in this table are a consequence of Russian aggression against Ukraine. The first comparison in the table is the territory controlled by Ukraine in 1991 and 2019. Obviously, the number decreased after the illegal annexation of Crimea and the war in Donbas. Number of higher education institutions presented in the table is correct. But Skabeeva doesn’t mention that the number also decreased because a part of Ukrainian territory was annexed by Russia. The positive thing not mentioned about Ukrainian education is that the number of postgraduate and doctoral students increased by 51.5% and 28% since independence. Agriculture is also presented in the table. The table says that in 1991 Ukraine harvested 51 million tons. And in 2019 - 61 million tons. So even here we see an increase of over 20%. And also it is not stated that in 2018 Ukraine had the largest harvest of its time as an independent country: 70.1 million tons. The table shows the comparison of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 1991 and 2019. But the host doesn't mention, that the GDP in Ukraine shows growth in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018. No other positive numbers are mentioned by Skabeeva. For example - new air travel records. Despite the loss of the airports of Donetsk and Simferopol, Ukrainian air transport broke the record for the years of independence - more than 20 million passengers, according to the Ministry of Infrastructure. Compared to 2015, passenger traffic through Ukrainian airports increased by 87%.

The EU has turned into the tool of Asianisation, Russia will preserve old European heritage

The EU has turned into a tool of Asianisation and Africanisation of Europe. The cities are full of women wearing burkas who were raised in societies tolerating honour killings. White Anglo-Saxon males in the US have to feel ashamed in front of descendants of African slaves and Indian Americans, or Japanese people.

The West is becoming increasingly detached from its European roots. The countries like Hungary, which resist this process and wish to preserve their national and Christian identities, are targeted with sanctions and repressions. More and more western Europeans acknowledge that the EU is the main enemy of Europe. Russia will have to play the role of keeper of old European [moral] heritage.

This case exemplifies recurring pro-Kremlin narratives about the Islamisation of Europe and decaying, threatened European values.

See earlier disinformation cases alleging that, in contrast to Russia, western Europe is abandoning Christian roots, and that Notre Dame belongs to Russia because France has denounced the European Christian values.

Violations by the Ukrainian army in the Donbas are secret and nobody investigates them

Former Verkhovna Rada deputy, Alexey Zhuravko, published documents that testify to the crimes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces against the civilian population of the Donbas. Reported cases are dated from 2014-2015 and addressed to the Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Stepan Poltorak. According to experts, information about the crimes of the Ukrainian military in the east of the country has become public knowledge more than once. However, analysts believe that the new government in Kyiv will not be engaged in a full-scale and comprehensive investigation of human rights violations in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

A recurring pro-Kremlin narrative about the Ukrainian army and its impunity, aggression against the civilian population in Donbas. The Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine denied such allegations, noting that a sentence has been passed on each existing case, and the Main Military Prosecutor’s Office is constantly monitoring the issue of combating crimes in the conflict zone. The UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission documented cases of human rights violations in Donbas every year, and this information is not secret.

Poland is responsible for the unleashing of World War II

It is necessary to write once and for all in all history books: Poland was among those who initiated World War II. It is the main culprit. When Hitler came to power, Pilsudski, the leader of Poland, asked for an alliance with the Germans to march on Red Square.

A recurring disinformation narrative revising the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. It is true that several European powers, including Poland, signed non-aggression treaties with Germany in the 30s, but none of these treaties was as far-reaching as the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact, clearly dividing independent countries in Europe into "Spheres of interests". It's also indisputable that Poland was invaded from both east and west, and could not have "initiated the war". Similar cases of disinformation can be found here.
