Disinfo: The Pentagon carries out in Ukraine the experiments that didn’t dare to do in US soil

The Pentagon is carrying out experiments near Russia’s borders that it does not dare do on US soil due to the incredible threat level. Ukraine is a much more convenient place for bio-labs: there aren’t strict legislative restrictions on biology, and the country is near Russia, a strategic opponent of the US. This is similar to the Caribbean crisis [the 1962 Cuban missile crisis], but this time, biological weapons are used instead of nuclear missiles. The EU countries are more exposed to the threat posed by those labs in Ukraine and other European countries. Washington may be using biological intelligence labs in Ukraine because its population is similar to the Russians and it is possible to organise local outbreaks of several diverse and register the consequences. Similar activities are taking place in Georgia, where the scandalous Center of Research on Public Health Richard Lugar is located.

Recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the alleged existence of US secret military laboratories near Russia’s borders, in this case in Ukraine and Georgia. According to these claims, the main task of these labs is to create "combat" viruses against Russians.

Actually, virology laboratories in Ukraine are involved in preventing the risks of complex diseases by pathogens and, together with other similar projects, counteracting bioterrorism. In April, the US Embassy in Ukraine reaffirmed that the country offers its support to ensure Ukraine can detect and report outbreaks caused by dangerous pathogens before they pose security or stability threats. In June, the Ukrainian Health Ministry responded to a Member of the Ukrainian Parliament who supported the idea of secret US labs, that there were no such laboratories.

You can see many examples of this disinformation narrative in our database, such as claims that the US is establishing laboratories alongside Russian borders; that Washington may be developing weaponised insects; that US biolabs in Ukraine are connected to the spread of Covid-19; that Kiev’s plans to close those labs led the US to support Euromaidan; that Americans experimented on people in Georgia; or that UK will use chemical labs to launch fresh provocations against Russia.

Cases in the EUvsDisinfo database focus on messages in the international information space that are identified as providing a partial, distorted, or false depiction of reality and spread key pro-Kremlin messages. This does not necessarily imply, however, that a given outlet is linked to the Kremlin or editorially pro-Kremlin, or that it has intentionally sought to disinform. EUvsDisinfo publications do not represent an official EU position, as the information and opinions expressed are based on media reporting and analysis of the East Stratcom Task Force.

George Soros denies funding the US riots but evidence proves it

George Soros denied funding the US riots, but evidence refuted him. Rudolf Giuliani, Donald Trump’s private lawyer, openly accused the mega-speculator of funding the terrorist riots in the US promoted by Antifa and Black Lives Matter. It is significant that, unusually, both the spokesperson for Soros’ Open Society Foundations Michael Vachon and Soros himself came out to deny it. However, internet sites showed mysterious piles of bricks found in the main cities where protests are taking place, along with a compromising video.

Black Lives Matter receives more than one-third of its funding from George Soros. And in The New York Times, a newspaper close to both Soros and the Clintons, commentator Farhad Manjoo is exultant that “Black Lives Matter is winning”.

Despite what is claimed in the headline, no evidence is provided to support the affirmation that billionaire George Soros is funding the US protests. The article is repeating a baseless conspiracy theory promoted by some US conservative commentators, in line with recurrent pro-Kremlin narratives framing US protests as a staged ‘colour revolution’ and portraying Soros as an evil master behind almost every protest around the world.

Unfounded claims against Soros exploded alongside US protests for racial justice after the death of African American George Floyd at the hands of a police officer in May 2020, mostly accusing him of funding Antifa and the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement. In this case, the affirmation that one-third of the BLM budget comes from the Open Society Foundation seems to be derived from an article in the The Washington Times, which explained that several US foundations created a fund aiming to raise 100 million dollars in six years for the Movement for Black Lives coalition. The article added, without providing any source, that the Open Society Foundations gave 33 million dollars in grants to the Black Lives Matter. This last claim was later repeated in several right-wing outlets, but it has been debunked by PolitiFact and The Daily Beast.

The US government intends to destabilise the Russian Federation by sending jihadists to Russia

The US government intends to destabilise the Russian Federation by sending jihadists to Russia.

The article repeats a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative claiming that the US and other Western states are supporting and using jihadist groups to advance geopolitical goals. This message is part of a broader conspiracy theory alleging that the United States and its NATO partners have created and supported many jihadi terrorist organisations and control global terrorism.

The article’s message is also consistent with the recurrent pro-Kremlin narrative claiming the US and other Western states pursue a belligerent and hostile agenda against Russia and that the West seeks to humiliate, weaken, disintegrate, conquer or subdue Russia.

The masters of the colour revolution in Armenia are only interested in creating problems for Russia

The colour revolution in Armenia was aimed at changing the geopolitical direction of our country, and destroying the traditional value system. The breakdown of allied relations with Russia, the withdrawal of the Russian military base and Russian border guards are the desired end of the “revolutionaries”. That is why countries with close ties with Russia are targeted with colour coups. The masters of the revolution are interested only in creating problems for Russia. They are not interested in how the Republic of Armenia will solve its military security problems. Armenia is isolated from its main foreign partners and is led by the foreign masters of the 2018 colour revolution. It is no secret that Anglo-Saxons played an important role in the internal Armenian processes of 2018.

Conspiracy theory and recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about lost sovereignty and threatened values as well as colour revolutions . This narrative portrays any spontaneous disorders and civil uprisings in other states, especially the former Soviet republics, as West-funded "coups".

There was no coup d'etat in 2018 in Armenia, but peaceful protests of hundreds of thousand people in response to Serzh Sargsyan's third consecutive term, and the country's prime minister and former president for a decade. Sargsyan resigned in response to overwhelming opposition pressure, including deserting soldiers, admitting that he was "wrong". “The street movement is against my tenure. I am fulfilling your demand,” his statement said.
