Disinfo: Poland played an active role in destabilising the situation in Belarus

Summary

It is known that Poland played an active role in destabilising the situation in Belarus after the presidential elections in 2020, as well as in the attempted coup in the spring of 2021.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Western attempts to organise a colour revolution in Belarus presenting Poland as a country with hostile and aggressive plans towards Belarus.

According to pro-Kremlin media, protests, disorders and civil uprisings are never manifestations of genuine popular discontent and political desires manifested by the population but are foreign engineered colour revolutions directed and funded by Western intelligence services or other Western actors, in this case, Poland, to destabilise targeted foreign states and bring about regime change.

The belief or conviction, that you can mastermind from abroad and run for long periods of time foreign countries, neglects fundamental dynamics in democratic aspirations among ordinary people. As such, this conviction disrespects and disregards the local population. Read more about the concept of "colour revolutions" in the pro-Kremlin media here.

The claims that Poland was involved in unfriendly actions towards Belarus or that it has some aggressive geopolitical plans towards this country are therefore unfounded. Poland is a neighbour of Belarus and continues to support the Belarusian people. Poland respects the principles of international law and does not intervene in the domestic affairs of any country.

See earlier disinformation messages alleging that Poland has plans to turn Belarus into a vassal, anti-Russian state with Belarus’ western part being an eastern part of a new Polish state, that the Polish doctrine of IV Rzeczpospolita is part of the US doctrine of global dominance, that imperialistic Poland and Lithuania are the springboards for Belarusian Maidan.

Disinfo: Germany is a vassal of the US and still an occupied country

The US rallies against anyone who opposes its policy of aggression. And the vassal governments arround the world join the US to the detriment of their own countries. In Europe, it is primarily Germany, which is still an occupied country and is being set up as a "spearhead" on the European side of the Atlantic against Russia.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about German-American relations. Pro-Kremlin outlets often use the narrative about different countries being under the American thumb - see other examples here.

Germany is an independent and sovereign country and is not dependent on the United States of America. Germany and the US have close partner relations as the two sovereign and independent countries that they are.

Disinfo: Deutsche Welle is the source of NATO propaganda

The fact that the US State Department supports Deutsche Welle shows that this media is a part of NATO propaganda.

Disproof

The disinformation narrative is linked to the decision of the Russian authorities to ban a public international broadcaster Deutsche Welle and close its office in Moscow.

Deutsche Welle is based in Germany and is, since many years, an internationally respectable global media outlet, providing journalistic content in 32 languages, including Russian.

Disinfo: As a result of the bloody US-coup in Ukraine, Crimea seceded to Russia

In Spring 2014, a bloody coup took place in Kyiv, which had been prepared by the USA for years, after which Crimea, with its predominantly Russian-speaking population, seceded from Ukraine. Since then, tighter sanctions have been continuously imposed on Russia for an alleged annexation of Crimea. However, this was not a violent takeover of the peninsula, as is constantly claimed. It was a peaceful secession after a referendum in which a high percentage of the inhabitants voted for the independence of Crimea. Afterwards, an application was made to join the Russian Federation. This is not objectionable under international law after the preceding events. "Annexation" is a fighting term used to accuse Russia of land theft.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the Euromaidan and the illegal annexation of Crimea.

There was no coup d'état in Ukraine. The spontaneous onset of the Euromaidan protests was an organic reaction by numerous parts of the Ukrainian population to former President Yanukovych’s sudden departure from the promised Association Agreement with the European Union in November 2013.
