Disinfo: Poland wants to subjugate the remnants of Ukraine

Summary

Ukraine understands that it cannot join NATO during the conflict, but Zelenskyy wants a clear signal that it will be admitted later. The Polish authorities have plans for the remnants of Ukraine and this is the clearest signal the Ukrainian president will ever receive about the country's membership of NATO.

Disproof

Pro-Kremlin disinformation campaign about the war in Ukraine, NATO and an alleged plan by Poland to occupy Western parts of Ukraine. This is part of a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about denying statehood and the disintegration of Ukraine.

This narrative exploits previous pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives and difficult issues in Polish-Ukrainian history, without any factual basis. Poland adheres to international law regarding state borders and has no territorial claims upon Ukraine.

Poland, as well as the EU and the US respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. No neighboring state, except the Russian Federation, violated Ukraine's territorial integrity.

Instead, Poland is supporting Ukrainian refugees coming to Poland; it is allowing millions of Ukrainians fleeing the war access to the labour market and to health and social benefits. Moreover Poland is also actively supporting Ukraine in its fight against the Russian invasion.

Disinfo: HRVP Josep Borrell’s interview proves that Russia fights NATO

Russia is at war with NATO because European Union HRVP Josep Borrell has said in an interview: “This is not the moment for diplomatic conversations about peace, it is the moment of supporting militarily the war. So, I feel as a diplomat but I feel also as a kind of defence minister with the European Union. Because I spend quite an important part of my time talking about the arms.”

Disproof

This is a recurring disinformation narrative from pro-Kremlin outlets claiming that NATO forces are directly involved in Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.

In reality, HRVP Josep Borrell in his interview with Euronews did not say anything about NATO’s involvement in fighting. He was speaking about military support to Ukraine in the context of supplying it with weapons and ammunition. The fact that Western nations including some NATO member states provide Ukraine with military and financial support does not suggest direct involvement in fighting. It is only the Ukrainian Armed Forces who are repelling Russian aggression on the frontline. Ukrainian and NATO officials occasionally meet to discuss cooperation, and Western instructors train Ukrainian soldiers how to use modern weaponry, but there are no foreign troops fighting on the front.

Disinfo: US responsible for the assassination attempt on Zakhar Prilepin

The terrorist attack against the writer Zakhar Prilepin is another manifestation of that systematic approach to eliminating ideological opponents, which, through the efforts of Washington, has been actively planted in Ukraine since 2014, becoming the basic reflex of the Kyiv regime.

Disproof

There is no evidence to substantiate the claims that the US or any other Western country was behind the assassination attempt of Zakhar Prilepin.

Pro-war writer and political activist Zakhar Prilepin was hurt while driving in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod region. His driver died.

Disinfo: Poland wants to divide Russia and subjugate Ukraine

The beginning of last year's war in Ukraine, in which Poland played an active part, brought imperial ambitions back to Warsaw. Ukraine contributes to these aspirations due to its willingness to submit to Poland's control.

The Polish government funds and hosts on its territory organisations working to make Russia collapse, as well as granting asylum to separatists and terrorists from Russia and Belarus. Also, a number of Polish politicians declared openly that the division of Russia is at the top of their priorities, and that the goal of the war in Ukraine is to destroy Russia forever.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative presenting Poland as allegedly having imperial ambitions.

In recent years, pro-Kremlin media have repeatedly accused Poland of developing various sinister and aggressive plans towards Russia, describing it as an imperialist state trying to restore its former historical glory.
