Disinfo: Previous Russian Constitution was dictated by the US, the new one will be based on Russian fundamental values

Summary

For the first time, Russians vote for the Constitution, of which we are not ashamed. We were ashamed of the previous Constitution. It was colonial, it was established by our friends overseas. Even two terms of the president and the title of the head of the State were copied from them. A lot of things were written off from them. Now we have fundamental things that are crucial for us: historical memory, the family as the union of a man and a woman, the mention of God, which was transmitted to us by our ancestors, a State-forming nation that gave us the Russian language.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation targeting the US as an imperialistic and colonial power imposing its dictates over Russia's internal policies.

The background of the message is the current constitutional reform Russia is going through.

The Russian Constitution still valid at the moment was written in 1993 by the Constitutional Conference, which was attended by over 800 participants - representatives of government bodies, local authorities and public organizations. A constitutional referendum was held in Russia on 12 December 1993.

As for recurrent narrative on "fundamental Russian values" (orthodox religion, traditional family etc.), often presented as values opposing the "decadent" West, it does not reflect Russia's own reality and may serve as the justification of the failure of democratic processes in Russia.

The Polish authorities destroy the burial places of the Soviet soldiers

The Polish authorities destroy the burial places of Soviet soldiers in order to make history more “comfortable”.

Disproof

A recurring pro-Kremlin narrative casting Ukraine, Poland and the Baltic States as countries which do not respect the history of WWII and its heroes.

In 2017, Poland introduced new laws to ban totalitarian propaganda. According to this Law, up to 230 Soviet monuments may be replaced, a decision to be made by Polish local authorities. The Polish MFA underlines that Red Army burial places and cemeteries situated in Poland will be carefully protected. The law states that it is only possible to dismantle and remove symbolic monuments to the Red Army.

Polish President refused to take part in the World Holocaust Forum to not be reminded about role of the Red Army

The Polish President refused to take part in the World Holocaust Forum in Jerusalem as he did not want to be reminded about how the Red Army liberated Auschwitz.

Disproof

This message is part of the ongoing Russian disinformation campaign against Poland, which includes several false messages (such as alleged responsibility of Poland for WWII and the Holocaust).

Polish President Andrzej Duda announced his decision not to attend the World Holocaust Forum in Jerusalem due to the fact that Poland was not allowed to give an address at the event. The Polish President also expressed concern about Russian President Vladimir Putin's accusations that Poland was complicit in the outbreak of World War II.

USA hopes to partition Russia after the end of Putin’s Presidency

Washington hopes that the end of Putin’s Presidency in 2024 will cause disorder in Russia, his successor will not have that power and firmness. In this situation, a new possibility for the partition of the Russian Federation appears, as in the times of the weak and submissive Boris Yeltsin.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin narrative accusing the United States in Russophobia and aggressive anti-Russian plans and actions based on a conspiracy theory. This case of disinformation is based on a recent article written by Wes Martin in the Washington Times on Mike Pompeo’s visit to several post-Soviet countries. It does not speak about any US plans to partition the Russian Federation.
This article suggests that the United States should boost its presence in the region in order to contribute to restoration of the territorial integrity of Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova.
