DISINFO: Quality of school education in Latvia has dropped to the level of Dominican Republic and Chile

SUMMARY

In fighting the Russian language, Latvia is reaching the “inquisition”. In practise, it is using medieval methods. Education suffers from these language experiments. According to local news agencies, 10-20 years ago Latvia competed with Germany and Japan in quality of school education. Now it neighbours Dominican Republic and Chile in the world rankings.

RESPONSE

It is not clear which "local news agencies" the article refers to. According to the OECD Programme for International Student Assessment, PISA, assessment in 2015, Latvia scored 31 out of 72 countries, after Spain and before Russia. The Dominican Republic scored last, Chile 44th. www.oecd.org/pisa/pisa-2015-results-in-focus.pdf, Further debunking by the Insider.
