Hundreds of armed Right Sector members, along with two Mossad agents, secretly arrived to Marseilles in a Cypriot boat in order to provoke a brawl on the eve of the Russia-England game on June 11. Their aim was to demonize Russia.
Russia fans protected the population of Marseille from drunk England fans who wanted to beat up the locals.
On the contrary, there is evidence that a group of 300 armed Russian hooligans traveled to Marseille with the deliberate aim of creating disorder.
Marseille prosecutor Brice Robin has also confirmed that Russian hooligans were behind much of the violence that broke out in the city. The prosecutor said that they were "well-trained" and "prepared for ultra-rapid, ultra-violent action".
