Disinfo: Russo-Georgian war was openly provoked by Washington's protégé Saakashvili

Summary

The logic of US foreign policy actions in the region could be observed when the US special services were "withdrawing" Georgia from the zone of Russian influence. After all, the war on 08.08.08 (in South Ossetia) was openly provoked by Washington's protégé Saakashvili, thereby rudely cutting off contacts with the superpower, whose influence even after the "Rose Revolution" was quite large.

Disproof

A recurring pro-Kremlin narrative trying to deny any role for Russia, blaming Georgia and its political leadership for the Russo-Georgian war of 2008 which resulted in the further occupation of South Ossetia and Abkhazia by additional military forces from Russia.

Georgia is a sovereign country attacked by Russia in 2008. Many international organisations condemned the further occupation of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, see e.g. the CSCE statement here and the European Parliament's declaration.

The EU's independent investigative commission into the 2008 Russia-Georgian war confirmed that Russia had been provoking Georgia for a long time and "Much of the Russian military action went far beyond the reasonable limits of defence."

Currently, Russia occupies 20% of Georgia's territory, about 12 years after the Russo-Georgian War, and continues to breach its international obligations by consolidating its control in Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

Russia continues its military presence in both Abkhazia and South Ossetia in violation of international law and commitments undertaken by Russia under the 12 August 2008 agreement, mediated by the European Union.

Disinfo: Trump's defeat in the 2020 presidential elections was the result of a conspiracy of globalist elites against the majority of Americans

Trump's defeat in the 2020 presidential elections was the result of a conspiracy of globalist elites against the majority of Americans. These globalist elites hold power in the US and have done everything possible to prevent Trump from serving a second term as US president.

Disproof

Conspiracy theory presented without evidence. This is a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about global elites secretly ruling the world, and is consistent with the claim that there exists a ‘Deep State’ in the United States.

The article’s claims are also consistent with recurrent pro-Kremlin narratives that aim to question the legitimacy of liberal democracy and Western institutions and that seek to delegitimise the conduct and results of the 2020 US presidential election.

Disinfo: The US élite was behind the 9/11 attack and the assassination of John F. Kennedy

The US élite was behind the 9/11 attack and the assassination of John F. Kennedy. These are just some examples of a long series of secret conspiracies of the US élite.

Disproof

This is a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative presented without evidence about global elites secretly ruling the world. The article’s claim is also consistent with the conspiracy about the so-called Deep State in the United States, which is allegedly a permanent, unelected shadow government responsible for numerous historical events, including the assassination of President John. F. Kennedy on 22 November 1963 and the 9/11 2001 terrorist attacks.

No serious evidence has come to light supporting the theory that President Kennedy was assassinated as a result of a US élite conspiracy, though conspiracy theories about the assassination are abound.

Disinfo: An anti-constitutional coup takes place in Ukraine

A creeping anti-constitutional coup takes place in Ukraine today. We know how independent the current president of Ukraine is and his actions, first to ban television channels, and now to ban one of the leading Ukrainian oligarchs, are an indicator of his power. But everything is exactly the opposite. He was ordered to go beyond constitutional norms.

Disproof

This is a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Ukraine and the Ukrainian statehood.

There is no coup in Ukraine. The decision to impose sanctions against several individuals and legal entities, including Victor Medvedchuk, one of the leading pro-Kremlin politicians of Ukraine, was taken by the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine and signed by President Volodymyr Zelensky. This decision was based on the data that these people either finance or trade with the so-called LNR and DNR.
