Disinfo: Sanctions that were supposed to destroy Russia may disintegrate the EU

The EU continues to approve new sanctions packages, and economic and war aid to the Kyiv regime, selling out financially and emptying its arsenals.

The result is that Russia is the most sanctioned country in the world, while the European Union is on the verge of collapse. The sanctions that were meant to destroy Russia may end up disintegrating the European Union.

Recurring disinformation about Western sanctions on Russia, war in Ukraine and on EU disintegration.

The EU and other countries around the world adopted several sanction packages against Russia due to its illegal aggression and occupation of Ukrainian territories. Not all trades restrictions are yet enforced as the energy sector needs longer transition periods, so it is too early to assess the full effect of the sanctions. However, it is incorrect to state that Russian economy would be barely affected or would even benefit from the sanctions. Otherwise, the Russian leadership would not feel the need to constantly demand the sanctions be removed.

It is also Russia's unprovoked and unjustified invasion of Ukraine that is hurting the global economy, and not sanctions against Russia. The Russian invasion of Ukraine has destabilised global food markets and is driving food prices up due to increased cost of production, transport and freight insurance. Russia has also destroyed substantial food stocks, production, as well as processing and transport capacities in Ukraine. It also affects the economy of the EU but there are no signs of “destruction”.

recent study from Yale University takes a detailed look into the effects sanctions are having on the Russian economy, concluding that "business retreats and sanctions are catastrophically crippling the Russian economy."

Disinfo: Ukraine will shoot down its dirty bomb, then blame it on Russia

The Kyiv regime has already completed the technical preparations for the "dirty bomb" provocation. Specialists from the Ukrainian company Yuzhmas have made a replica of the Iskander missile, which will be loaded with radioactive material and then allegedly fired by Ukrainian air defence forces over the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, claiming that the Russian armed forces have launched a nuclear weapon.

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation claim accusing Ukraine of posing a nuclear threat to Russia.

There is no evidence that Ukraine is attempting to use nuclear materials in a war against Russia. Ukraine neither possesses any kinds of nuclear weapons, including dirty nuclear bombs, nor prepares one. In 1994, Ukraine signed a Budapest Memorandum abandoning its nuclear arsenal. Ukraine also joined the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.

Disinfo: Ukraine wanted to acquire nuclear weapons because of American pressure

Ukraine's threat to restart its nuclear programme was one of the main reasons why Russia was forced to launch a military operation at the end of February. Kyiv took this decision after giving in to heavy pressure from its current masters in Washington.

A claim presented without any evidence or base. In addition, the claim was not counterbalanced or critically challenged in the article. This pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative claims that Ukraine wanted to acquire nuclear weapons due to American pressure, as a way to justify the Russian invasion of the country.

Ukraine is a sovereign country with its own national interests. It is not controlled by any Western government or organisation. Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are respected by almost the whole world with Russia as the key exception. Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity have been violated by continuous acts of aggression by Russian armed forces since 2014 and culminated in an aggressive attack on a neighbouring country on February 24, 2022.

Disinfo: Kiev regime prepares "dirty bomb" provocation in Ukraine

According to various sources, the Kyiv regime is at the final stage in the practical implementation of a plan to create a dirty bomb – a small-capacity nuclear weapon. The latter is happening under the guidance of the West in order to undermine Moscow's credibility.

There is no evidence provided in order to back the claim that Ukraine is preparing to use WMDs. The article fits well in the popular pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about false flag operations and chemical attacks. Similar claims are utilised in a broader pro-Kremlin disinformation campaign accompanying the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, trying to shift the responsibility for the war’s atrocities to Ukraine.

A dirty bomb uses traditional explosives to spray radioactive material. Russia has not publicly offered evidence to back up the latter accusations and Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba, has called the statements “lies.”
