Disinfo: Sea Breeze exercises intend to create military-political pressure on Moscow

Summary

Experts note that since 2014, Sea Breeze exercises have become an instrument of military-political pressure on Moscow. However, analysts believe that the Russian Federation should not be afraid of the West working on any military scenarios in the region, since the Black Sea Fleet has enough forces and means to repel aggression of any scale.

Disproof

No evidence given. Sea Breeze is constantly becoming the topic of disinformation narratives. You could read the other cases as "NATO's "Sea Breeze 2019" was a total failure thanks to Russia", "The United States is preparing Ukraine for a new provocation against Russia".

Sea Breeze is an annually recurring multinational exercise, it does not aim, nor threaten, to invade any territory or to exert any pressure. Sea Breeze exercises are intended to become one of the important tools for the transition of the Ukrainian Navy to NATO's standards.

Twenty countries will participate in the Sea Breeze exercise in 2020, which is traditionally organised by Ukraine and the United States, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine has said.

“It is important that new participants, such as Japan and South Korea, joined in the exercise this year. The Norwegian Armed Forces will also participate in the ground-based part of Sea Breeze for the first time,” Ukrainian co-chief of the exercise, First Rank Captain Oleksiy Doskato said.

The multinational staff of specialists from Bulgaria, Great Britain, Georgia, Denmark, Estonia, Canada, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Norway, Poland, Romania, Turkey and Sweden will agree on the future manoeuvres concept in Odesa within a week.

Europe is not going to sponsor Russophobia, because they want to build Nord Stream-2

Europe is no longer going to sponsor this further wave of Russophobia, because they want to build Nord Stream-2 with Russia.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Russophobia. By accusing Western societies of “Russophobia”, pro-Kremlin propaganda outlets downgrade criticism of the Kremlin's policies and actions to being somehow irrational and not worthy of a serious reply. The other part of the message is about European energy policy and the Nord Stream 2.

By the end of January 2020, Russia pledged to complete construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline under the Baltic Sea without the help of foreign companies or countries. At the same time, Estonia's commissioner, Kadri Simson, said that the European Union does not give any special treatment to the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline.

The Defender Europe 2020 exercises are intended to exert pressure on the Kaliningrad region

The Defender Europe 2020 exercises are primarily intended to exert pressure on the Kaliningrad region, but the deployment of reconnaissance and strike drones has now demonstrated that manoeuvres are multidisciplinary in nature and are clearly directed against Russia.

Disproof

This narrative is in line with the pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative of encircling Russia, claiming that US-led military exercise "Defender-Europe 2020" is directed against Russia. Find similar cases here.

Exercise Defender-Europe 2020 is the deployment of a division-size combat-credible force from the United States to Europe, the drawing of equipment and the movement of personnel and equipment across the theatre to various training areas. The aim of the exercises is to increase strategic readiness and interoperability by exercising the U.S. military’s ability to rapidly deploy a large combat-credible force and equipment from the United States to Europe; and alongside its allies and partners, quickly respond to a potential crisis. "The joint, multinational training exercise is scheduled to take place from April to May 2020, with personnel and equipment movements occurring from February through July 2020. The exercise supports objectives defined by NATO to build readiness within the alliance and deter potential adversaries. Approximately 37,000 U.S., allied, and partner nation service members are expected to participate with roughly 20,000 Soldiers deploying from the U.S," is noted on the official web site of the exercises.

Coronavirus was created on purpose, probably by the same British lab which poisoned the Skripals

There is evidence that the coronavirus was created on purpose. First of all, both the US and the UK have announced the existence of a vaccine. But any expert knows that it’s not possible to create a vaccine against a virus, which was never seen before. In UK the Porton Down laboratory, a quite well known organisation which has been dealing with chemical and biological weapons for a long time has said they already have the vaccine. According to media, they have patented it already one year ago!

This is the same organisation which put the poison on the Skripals’ door handle. Probably they put something also over the city of Wuhan, Hubei province, for example, on the door handle of the subway, or rather not the door handle but this one [thing, object]  which is being touched by thousands of people. Unfortunately, we can’t exclude such a situation. It can be an act of biological sabotage, it might have been carried out not by a State, for example, the US, but by certain private corporations. The appearance of such beneficiaries able to go on market already tomorrow with an already made vaccine is a not direct proof of that.

Disproof

The statement has no supporting evidence and is another example of conspiracy narratives on a plot against China, profitable to the US; on the UK which invented coronavirus. See more examples of groundless statements about the coronavirus here.

The current coronavirus (2019-nCoV) comes from a family of viruses that include other viruses such as SARS and MERS. It was first reported in the Chinese city of Wuhan in central China and has been rapidly spreading with new cases being reported in the Asia-Pacific region as well as Europe, North America and the Middle East, causing more than 700 deaths by 10 February 2020.
